Local residents like the humorous slogan “Second Largest Paris in the World.” Following a tradition of American cities named “Paris”, a 65-foot (20 m) replica of the Eiffel Tower was constructed in 1993. In 1998, presumably as a response to the 1993 construction of a 70-foot (21 m) tower in Paris, Tennessee, the city placed a giant red cowboy hat atop the tower. The current tower is at least the second Eiffel Tower replica built in Paris; the first was constructed of wood and later destroyed by a tornado.

Paris, Illinois and Paris, Maine are both seats of their respective counties. Kansas and Kentucky west and east of Paris, Illinois and Mexico/Peru and Norway/Sweden/Denmark north and south of Paris, Maine then become associated. Kansas is at the end of the 6th US tile and Kentucky at the end of the 5th: together they are 56, or Fifty-Six, like happens *twice* in Arkansas, the 12th and last US tile. Like Golden City is the 12th city of Arkansas, but unrecorded in Harrington’s book “Let Us Build Us a City: Eleven Lost Towns”.

“Eiffel Tower is the Tower of A. Mann, Superman to be precise.”
