“We have brought you here to the Hills of Bill to make contact. Love… war… contact.”

“Wheeler,” I state. “What is it you want from me?”

“To set up The Table again. My Table, yes, but also your Table. In 7 Stones if you wish, yes. That seems to be your wish. No?”

“Collagesity is dead, Wheeler.”

“My Collagesity, yes.”

“But we still have The Table. We still have 7 Stones, the replacement.”

“You know what we need to do: Billfork. Lennon plus Pink Floyd plus Firesign Theatre all in one. A great 3-n-1. But it needs *work*. Yours. But also mine. I will help from the other side end.

X marks

PIPERSVILLE (CHIP SHOT) and SINK X

MIDDLE GAME.

LONG DRIVE.

“It’s the only X the Linden roads make on Maebaleia,” I speak to my avatar who stands beside this very crossroads. Or at least a rendition thereof.

“Satori,” he calls up in a small voice.

“Right,” I boom down. “What I said. Anyway, it’s between the two X’s we’re calling Middle Game and Long Drive. These 2 smaller X’s…”

“Smaller,” echoes Baker Bloch down below.

“Yes,” I say in a bigger way. “They must be part of one larger X, then. Logical?” I query.

There was a pause. “What about Sink X?” he says in such a small voice that I didn’t hear him at first. He was looking in the distance.

“What’s that?” I boom down.

“Sink X!” he pipes up. “Pipersville! Chip Shot!!”

“I was sitting right over there on that bench, Baker Bloch — my Gaseous Bench — when the (Tarsus) attack began. Poor Tealy.”

“But… he’s still alive,” a puzzled Baker responds, seeing the colorful raccoon just this morning.

“Oh yes. I rebuilt him. Just a mechanoid, see. Not a real raccoon. Hence the color, silly.”

“Good. I’m glad he’s still alive. But I was thinking…”

“Karoz?” Tillie guessed. Both were contemplating the common teal color now. Or blue-green. “That would make me…”

“The Other Baker, yes. The female.”

“But I’m…”

“I know who you are.” Pause. “Now.”

“Well.” She threw up her hands. “It’s a mystery, then. Another one.”

Baker emits air (as well?). “We better speak about Chip Shot; and Middle Game; Long Drive,” he finished, further away from the beginning of this sentence than ever.

“Pretty easy. Chip shot, even. Sink X is a green that’s also a sand dune or bunker. Paradox. Two opposite things in one. Two *bordering* things, but getting on the green, especially with a long drive, is good, while hitting a sand bunker…”

“Bad,” completes Baker Bloch. “Two neighboring opposites combining into one.”

“And Chip Shot just a chip away from either. Perched on the lip.”

“Chip Shot… Pipersville’s original name?”

“A variant, historical name,” Tillie offers, coming into synch with her fellow core avatar. Another 2n1.

—–

“What next? Will you leave Rubisea now, Tillie? You and Tealy? Perhaps go on a journey to find seed in Grasslands which is Toppsity? Passing Golden Sink on the way? Where it all ends according to both me (as Pitch) and, let’s see, I think it was Dave. Firesign’s Dave.”

“David Ossman,” Tillie recites. “Archer.”

They were back in Maebaleia/Satori after a quick sidetrip to Hana Lei Hidiland. Tillie was sitting in the… catbird seat. She had supreme control now, white arms, right and the other one, covered and protected once more. Notebook remains undamaged. Bumbling Baker Bloch and his bike were positioned a safer distance away this time. “Well…?”

“Do you like my white forest, Baker Bloch?” she called across the distance. “I like to keep trophies.”

“Conquests.”

“Yes. You need me, I need you. Come here,” she beckoned. “Come closer. The computer is not a problem any longer. Forget about it. Come here.”

Baker Bloch edged closer, his bike with him.

“Closer,” she still requested.

Biking Baker complied.

“Ahem, too close.”

“Right. Sorry.” The white distance was finally assumed.

“We need to talk.”

“So. We finally meet in this novel. The 2 core avatars.”

“But… you’re…”

“I know who I am, Baker Bloch. Sit down. Let’s cuddle.”

“We don’t do that.”

“Right. Quite white, er, right.” Tillie continued to rub lotion onto her colorful arms.

“Well…?” Baker finally asked. The male Baker.

Tillie sighed. “I guess we’ll have to classify this place as another one of those Hana Leis. But that will bring, let’s see — be a love, dear, hand me my notebook out of my bag.” She glances over, sees the bike wheel parked atop the bag. “Oh dear, love, I hope it isn’t damaged in any way.”

“Sorry about that.” Baker backs the bike up and gets off, reaches down into the bag for the requested computer, looks it over. “Seems to be okay.” He hands it to Tillie, who powers it up.

“Yes. You’re lucky this time. But what I wanted to check was the frequency of the ‘H’ locations.” Light flickers across her pancake face. “Ah yes, you see if we classify this as another one of those Hana Leis, that will bring the total to 19, beyond the 17 for Heartsdale and 15 for Horizons in the 3H Club. Maybe add a 4th, then.” She slides the notebook back into the bag, props herself up with her hands. “Hidiland,” she decides. “That’s it. What do you think?”

“How about just Grasslands,” he returns. “Ahh, a bee!”

“No, it has to be the 4th of the ‘H’s, like the Club.”

“4H Club.” His arms flail again. “Dad gum bee.”

“Yes. Head, Hand, Health,” she recites. “Always forget the 4th.”

“You know what the 4th is.” The bee had subsided the attack.

She giggles, then puts her finger against her turned cheek, causing a temporary dimple. “Meee?” The smile continued.

Geez, what a pathetic prop. Grey intestines look *nothing* like that.

On to the interesting subjects… just around the corner.

Ahh so. An actual living, breathing vein and artery person. Thanks to *us*. And then her sister, but without the internal circulating system. Sorry, Girl 01. The sister — Girl 02 — will have to remain on the ship. But *you*…

“I was a girl with long, spindly legs,” spoke Misty Felton to her new bestest friend Sep Felton back at the latter’s apartment (125 Wall Lane, Wallytown). They hadn’t determined a blood relation, if there was one to be found. To Sep, that left the door wide open to… experimentation.

“Interesting,” Sep replied. “I always imagine horses. It affects people different ways. So I take it you like the dance… oh, silly question; you were gyrating just as hard as I was during the heated moments. But not as hard as Molly, tee hee. A better question would be, what didn’t you like about the dance? Personally, I was a little disappointed that Molly was glitter-free by the end. But it’s a small criticism. How about you?”

Chatty again, Misty thought. But with that nice, pleasant tone. Still probably makes up for it. Yes, it turns out that Molly’s routine involves *one*, count ’em, one dance throughout, but with many variations of themes tried. On and on the music went, a combination of Pink Floyd’s “On the Run” and Judy Garland’s theme song “Over the Rainbow,” as Sep explained. Being from 1920, Misty wasn’t familiar with either. Combined title: “OTR” of course. Born to be mashed up, as Sep also said.

“I can’t think of anything,” Misty offered to Sep’s question, hoping to switch the subject back to the spindly legged girl. And the sister. What *were* their names? It was right on the tip of her tongue.

Just when she was thinking this, Sep leaned over the counter separating them and pecked a kiss on the lips fronting said tongue. It took her breath away. But it wasn’t unpleasant. On the contrary… “You know I may be your great grandmother or something,” she said to put some distance between them again.

“Nope,” spoke Sep. “We ruled all that out. We called Mom… we traced our ancestry back 4 generations. Thanks to Uncle Bert as well. (The name) Sep’s just a coincidence.”

Hmm, pondered Misty. She decided to reintroduce the subject bothering her more than anything. She was a little irritated that Sep had skipped over it so quickly. It seemed super important to her. Horses… why did the music invoke horses for her? She decided to say this aloud, then work back to the girl. Sex, or whatever’s coming up, could wait. “Why horses?”

“I’ve always liked them. In a past life I imagine myself being a horse. Tricksy. And with Capricorn my stud lover. We’d gallop the fields to the Misty Mountain, where the lighted ones are found, the beings who lead us down to the big head Brainard in the valley beyond. Altona.”

“That quite a fantasy you have going there,” opined Misty with a slight laugh and shake of the head. Misty Mountain? she then thought. Why *my* name? Again she decided to vocalize her internalizations. “Coincidence about the Misty Mountain?”

“Oh… didn’t think about that. Yes: coincidence. Chance — again.” But suddenly Sep knew that Misty and herself couldn’t be a couple. Because something *had* happened beyond that mountain; down in the valley. She was remembering this now — lingering effects of The Dance. They had both been *absorbed.* Assimilated… yes, that was the word she was looking for.

Misty was thinking the same word at the same time. And realizing the same thing about the couple part. Their minds were synchronized now. Because, actually, they had one mind.

That of Brainard.

“Heaven’s not so bad, sister of mine. As long as we’re over here and *Willy Wonka* stays over there.”

“We use not to be so bitter, mein sister.”

“That’s before we died.”

“Oh… right you are. My bad.”

I’m going to figure this out.

town City >

I’ve got to text Baker to come find me and get me. But what year is it? 2020? 1920? If the latter, then Septimius might be of aid. If the former, then Baker alone.

She looks down at her spacesuit like garb; realizes it has to be the former.

Unless we had children, she ponders further. Grandchildren. She searches for Wallytown + Septimius. Name is probably archaic but it’s worth a try.

She studies the search results. No Septimius. On a hunch, she tries Seppy. No luck again. Then Sep. Sep Felton. Ah ha. 8 hits down. Sep Felton. 128 Wall Lane. Number: 882-226-4371. She dials through her notebook.

“Hello?” Female voice — Wheeler was thinking male.

“Hi. Is this Sep? Sep Felton?”

“Yes?”

Wheeler decides what to say. “I’ve been looking up possible relatives in the area. My name is Felton as well. By marriage.”

“Well, that’s interesting. I only know of 1 other Felton, and he’s over in Meat City. Runs a small packing industry. No relation, though.” The voice was pleasant, inviting.

“I was wondering… could we meet sometime today? Or tomorrow perhaps? I’m only in town the two days. Today would be preferable.” Wheeler was thinking: it better be today. I’m ready to get the heck out of Dodge!

“I get off work at 5. How about 6? Bar Lemon is a popular place to meet. Dancers there as well. We can chat before the entertainment. Molly, one of the dancers, is a good friend of mine. She can get us a good deal on drinks.”

How strange, thought Wheeler. Of all the places. Does she know as well?? “Swell,” she answered. “See you in a couple of hours.”

“Thanks. It will be nice to compare family trees. See if we’re actually related. Perhaps you’re instead related to Sven over in Meat City. Or perhaps — I’ve often wondered this too — there’s a missing link between the 2 Feltons. We would be so isolated otherwise. Perhaps we can figure it out together. That would be nifty.”

A little chatty, thought Wheeler. But otherwise: quite nice. Pleasant — that’s important. No nasal in her voice. “Super. I’d like to see the dancers.” It was a hobby of Wheeler’s as well. So many dances in the world. So many more to learn.

“That’s wonderful. I’m a dancer too, but not professionally like Molly. Just amateur stuff.”

Queer again, thought Wheeler. Just like me once more. But enough talk for now. “Goodbye. I’m looking forward to it.” She touches the phone symbol on the notebook, making it turn from green to red. Disconnected. But later, perhaps connected in a much more meaningful and deeper way. Love.

Art

“The SoSo Galleries have been reopened,” explained Woody Woodmanson during another tour at another time. “SoSo Proper to the right, Gallery Jack dead ahead, and then House Greenup to the left here. Cardboard Derak Jones is *so so* happy!”

Cringing at every exclamation point, Wheeler points out that Woody mentioned two sets of galleries. They move on across the bridges, across the waterfalls…

… to 7 Stones Proper. Forgot to mention that the SoSo Galleries lie in what’s called 7 Stones Eastside, a 2048 sq meter parcel owned by Wheeler right now instead of Baker Bloch (who owns the the rest of the 11,264 sq. meter town — the “Proper” part).

“Right up here, my co-owner of this fine village,” urges Woody, indicating the second art kiosk. Wheeler joins him in front of it. “3 galleries again: Red Umbrella to the left, Boos *behind*, and then Fal Mouth Moon, the king and perhaps queen of them all, just to the right here.”

“And — as I’m checking — the kiosks are also directly east and west of each other! With only the *slightest* of tweaking,” Woody then added, trying to take a slight edge off at least one 7 Stones oddity that has cropped up lately.

“We can smell here too,” proclaimed Wheeler, part of the growing list. “Lemony quality again. We’re so close to something else. Something *not art* ([Collagesity] related). She sniffs the air again to check. Nothing now.

“Anyway, I just wanted to give you a tour of the galleries and tell you how they’re set up. Just in case…” He trailed off.

“Just in case what?” asked Wheeler.

“Just in case,” Woody repeated simply.
