Wall, The

He was disguising himself as a chatty alien to this town. Lucytown it could be called. We’ll see. Maybe Walltown. Or just: Wall. Wallytown.

“How did this Wall come about, Peggy? I prefer Moon myself. Better music, maybe better lyrics even. Did you know there is a Moon on the opposite side of Wall in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania? And Pennington County, South Dakota for that matter. And now: here. This proves that our — *my* music will live on in time. Past the 21st Century. Past more, hopefully. Moon is permanent, and maybe it can drag the interior Wall along with it.” He shakes his head, playfully adjusts his mouth, laughing. “Inferior I meant there, although a Wall certainly does have an interior… and an exterior. Inner and Outer. Do you know why they hang green and red banners along the exterior of the Wall instead of, say, yellow and blue? I saw a blue car parked beside them today, in the middle of the road. Got towed — I called it in. Do you like chocolate, Peggy? How about lemonade? How about rustling me up a freshly squeezed glass of lemonade? Or do I have to go to Bar Lemon for that? I will, you know. Just down the Wall and through the tunnel and hang a right.”

It was only then that Roger Pine Ridge realized he was talking to a mannikin all along. The other Peggy at the bar — Peggy 02: same story. Only Natali was real here, and she wasn’t in the mood for conversation. A day off is me-time for her. Talk to the hand all day today. In costume, she was, of course, our Molly Lustrous, a dancer at Bar Lemon Roger just mentioned, and a constant ride provider for Fisher, another town newcomer. That crazy robot friend of his, she thinks with a slight grin. And that yellow colored girl he keeps yammering on about all the time and getting in trouble because of it. He doesn’t even know about the secret stash of ammunition in Drugstore Orange just below that could blow up a, well, a town about this size.

“You have to click the keg at the end of the bar,” she finally managed. The still drink-less Roger followed her point. Soon he had a cranberry martini in hand, complete with lemon slice.

“Ah yes. Thank you, stranger. My name is Albert. Albert Halsey. I’m from Oregan, Earth, USA. I’m on the run; out of breath. You know: Time. Constraints that drive one mad and induce Brain Damage, Money not the least of them. Do you know about Money? Time, Money, Brain Damage? It will all survive the test of time. Well beyond the 21st Century. Maybe even up to the *31st* Century.”

Natali was thinking: how to ease out of this bar scene as gracefully as possible. After all, there were about a dozen bars in Wall Wallytown she could visit by her estimation, and that may still be selling the burg short. Around every single blasted turn there seemed to be another one. Bar Lemon does a fairly steady business but it use to be different back in the old days. The days before the coming of the blimey Lindens. For this use to be a Lemony town through and through, Bar Lemon a link to that lustrous past. And herself as well. She could open up to this alien man sitting next to her and blow his freak’n mind. Give him a ride all over town and show him the sights, tell him where this and that use to exist and how it was mainly replaced by *inferior* structures and objects. Mr. Yellow knew too. Both of ’em. The town has certainly been pissed on by the Lindens. Yes, she could give him a total ear-full of info.

But it was her day off.

Artist

Annie already has a small gallery near the center of New Island showing her nudes. Karl admires his own portrait again even after leaving. It literally brought him back to life. What a gal, he thinks. I must keep her forever.

Now let’s see. I head directly west to get back home I believe. Pretty sure.

But then he sees the teleport invite from that Infinity Point we mentioned before. Almost immediately, Karl was with Annie, the latter painting not a seascape as one would suppose from the location, but what happened at work today.

Karl takes a seat and watches the painting continue to evolve. He decides to let her concentrate on her work. After a minute or two, he speaks. “All I see is a buoy out there, baby doll, but whatever rocks your boat I guess. Whatever gets you motivated.”

“Um hum,” is all Annie grunted in response, finishing up the last bits. She was almost ready again.

shortcut 02

“I made it happen,” Norris declares from the rocker to the user baker b. through Baker Bloch. “You must get Wheeler back to sewing the elephant. When she finishes we can talk more.”

Baker pauses to consider this. “You mean the Corsica book.”

“Of course… i-ca. Sorry.”

“Good to see you have a sense of humor. I was starting to worry Harry. JERRY, Harry.”

“Norris here, if you will.” He then looks over at the back of Baker Bloch’s hatted head. “Make sure you aren’t looking at me. Are you looking at me?”

“No.” Baker kept staring toward the corner of the room.

Although he kept looking at this same corner, seemingly, his position in the room shifted. Furniture appeared; a table. A warm breeze blew through the now open windows beside him. Norris followed Baker Bloch through the portal but couldn’t properly sit in the rocking chair now… no room for him here.

Another took his place.

“You don’t mind if I SMOKE, do you?!” Baker turned.

Pretty Man

Basically like clockwork, Earie passes Jiff’s abode a couple minutes beyond total darkness. 7:30 tonight, but winter is coming and the days are getting shorter. Tomorrow he should pass at approximately 7:29, the next day 7:28, and so on until time turns around or he leaves the sim. One day Jiff will follow the punk to see where he goes, but right now he needs to get some sleep. Jiff’s usually in bed by about 8 and rises around 6. Sometimes he even sees Earie pass the other way. Then it’s off to work at the Gaston-Berry Police Station as staff psychiatrist. A new and troubled male inmate has just arrived who goes by the name of Wilson. Pretty face, though. Maybe that’s the screw’s turn, Jiff ponders, knowing other information. Maybe this town demands too much from its citizens.

Peter SoSo and Prissy have a *ghost* in their bathroom, Bendy pondered when returning to his rowhouse from the hotel. No, not a ghost, an interdimensional being of some sort. A Nancy that is all Nancy’s. All Nancy’s. What does it mean?

Tronesisia, listening in unseen from the other side of the room, knew the answer.

Sissy not Prissy, she thought over and over. Sissy not Prissy, Sissy not Prissy, Sissy not Prissy…

Underground 01

She stands up and gets her directions straight. Yes, to the right should be the safe plaza, or underneath it. She’ll head that way first. Taking a deep breath, Wheeler begins her exploration of VHC Town’s vast underworld.

Just past the doors to the basement of [delete name], she found this: what appeared to be a water filled opening with an actual stream flowing behind it. Boldly, she strides inside…

… to find herself not underwater atall, but instead on dry land beside the seen water flow. She looks upstream. “Is that a coffin?”

Yes. A coffin. And room for two on top, it seemed.

Why not.

Oh, this isn’t good. She stands up and tries the other poseball.

Yes, not as bad. What *is* this place? Is it the River Styx? Certainly seems like it. Heels in water — she remembers something from grade school about a hero being dipped in that river for protection, but he was, yes, he was held by the heel and that remained unprotected. Hercules? No, Wheeler didn’t think it was Hercules. Paris sprung to mind. Then the correct one: Achilles. She decides, just because it can’t hurt, to immerse herself in the waters. But underneath was dry. Uh oh. A red door. She scrambles upwards over rocks to reach it.

Are these the *same* red doors? The ones accessible from the safe plaza that are locked?

She tries the doors: indeed locked. A passageway just beyond draws her attention. First she checks out the pipes that this River Styx emerges from. All closed off in this direction.

To the passage…

… a twisty-turny affair, and pretty long.

Another reddish door at the end.

Wheeler can open this one, but can’t pass through. She even tries to remove her tiny hat to see if that will help. Still no luck. Seeing no other means of egress, she’ll have to turn around and retrace her steps back to the river.

—–

She then realizes there’s another opening the river flows through on the lower side. She jumps into the water again and walks foward.

Looking back.

She’s out again! And right behind the building where she started, sitting almost directly west of the Graphic Artist portal, she reckoned.

Wheeler walks to the north side of the building and makes a phone call to Baker Bloch. Wait till he hears about *this*!

2016 Year in Review 02

(continued from)

Reality

A big year for toy/junk happenings as well, although not on quite the same scale as virtual advances. To my great surprise, I was able to concoct another of these happenings in the Bigfoot area, just up the hill from the very successful Fall 2015 one. The attached name this time around was not Bigfoot or Bigfoot II but Chesterton. I’ll have a page or two created on it soon enough. The focus on Chesterton lasted from late April until early August, when my creative and blogging emphasis shifted back to Second Life and Collagesity for the remainder of 2016 (as chronicled in the “Collagesity 2016 Later” document already reviewed).

I feel very confident about these toy/junk happenings moving forward with this reinforced Bigfoot base now. Chesterton continues many of the same ideas as the earlier Bigfoot event.

Virtual Archives

Another big project I started more toward the end of the year was archiving the posts of not only the Sunklands blog, but also the Baker Blinker Blog coming before it. This would cover almost 9 total years. It’s difficult to remember the way I wrote before blogging, I took to it so easily and effortlessly — maybe too effortlessly. But the immersion has paid off big dividends down through the years, I feel, not the least of which are the two “books” I’ve been able to create just recently, a type of summarizing or flowering, I suppose, of this long term flow of energy. Anyway, you can access this archives through the “Virtual” link found on the Sunklands header. As of this writing, I have all of the Sunklands blog archived, and also about the first half of the Baker Blinker Blog. Not too awful much left to do (!) Then I guess I’ll have to protect the involved pictures as well, which most likely number in the several thousands. Well, the *blog* posts number close to 5000 so I know there’s considerably more pictures involved.

Just a couple more notes on this: for the Baker Blinker Blog archives I’ve created so far, I’ve decided to mix virtual and real life posts, since there’s relatively so little of the latter. This changes toward the end of that 2008-2012 blog, particularly about September 2011 or so. I’ll just have to see how my archiving game plan alters when I reach that point. For the Sunklands blog, I’ve already separated out the virtual related archives from the real life or hiking archives, although I haven’t gathered together the latter yet in pages. So just a note here that this process is going on, and I anticipate at least the virtual archives to be completed in several weeks at most.

MapS

Finally a note on my very long term map synchronicity project, which also assumed a new level of archival protection this year. Basically all information formerly located in marked up old atlases and notebooks has been transferred to Google Earth kml files. It took a while (about a month and a half as I recall) but the effort was most definitely worth it. I don’t plan to share this information on the Sunklands blog quite yet, though.

Onward into 2017!
