00450108 (Red Arrow (Coming back to Earth))

“This one’s gold. Annnnd (grunts while reaching into the wagon for another one)… *this* one’s gold.”

She pauses in her work to look around the Badlands business. “Jeez, looks like they’re *all* gold to me, huh.”

Her boss comes out of left field and tells her it’s quitting time.

“Do I come back tomorrow?” she asks expectantly, wiping her hands on her jeans before inserting them into its pockets.

He also looks around at all the rocks, gauges the height of the piles, their diameter, whether more rocks can be added to them right now. “Mmmmm. We’ll see. Stay close to your phone in the morning.”

“Oh. Oh okay.”

He stares at her pants, then decided to add: “I’d recommend washing your hands before leaving, err–” He stops; he can’t remember her name; he decides to continue like no awkward pause occurred. “Anyway, ahem, some of these, um, rocks might contain uranium, uh hmm. Not enough to kill you or anything (hardy laugh here). Just as a precaution. Soap’s on the sink in the bathroom over there.” He exits back to the left after pointing in that direction. Fern is alone. No call in the morning as it turns out. Another day off to enjoy the desert sun and wind. Maybe even a dust storm midday to break up the monotony. Out of sunscreen, though, with no money left to buy. She’s hoping for rain.

Middle: Green (painted) with no green, only red yellow blue.

Another green oddity from Google Earth this time: a “demon head” of such color in a small Washington state lake snapped in March 2007…

… which then mysteriously disappears by 2009, the whole island turning from green to beige with the seeming eradication of all plant life.

We know from other historic Google Earth satellite views that this “head” existed in one form or another from 6/2006…

… up to 7/2007, so a bit over a year at the very least. Just noting.

Back to the first green head for comparison.

Through the hidden constant of *island*, the head began to remind observing Gerald of something else green — a foot. Green from head to foot, then. A thing of purest green, the alchemist’s secret goal.

Gerald had his vineyard. And his dog. He should return now. Day getting late.

“So here we are, Billy. Interior: beyond (The) Wall. Here we’ll find the information we need, I believe.”

“I… believe.”

—–

“Let’s pull in here and get some gas before going further. Don’t want to run out in the middle of the Badlands, ha.”

“Ha (or ho).”

—–

“Let’s now go to that Badlands Grocery Store we saw advertised beside the town welcome sign. We’ll stock up with supplies there, some proper food.”

“1/2 priced yogurt?”

“Perhaps, Billy.” But Fern didn’t think so. Billy would have to get use to more primitive life up here in the Real World, above and beyond the comforts of Our Second Lyfe.

—–

Fern parks the now filled up rental truck in front of the store 2 blocks west of the gas station, as the billboard she saw and memorized earlier indicated. “Keep in mind through all this that we’re looking for something *interior*… to Interior, even,” she said, walking up to the front door. “The town’s name is just a signifier, a pointer.”

Then in synchronicity, Billy points to something in the distance.

“Ball. Silver.”

“Good, Billy. Good.” Fern knew this was just a propane tank seen on edge but Billy was definitely on the right track. Change of perspective. They go inside.

But there was nothing within the grocery store but BLACK, which so happens to be the former name of Interior.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interior,_South_Dakota

In 1891, the former way-station was called Black with Mary Johnson as its first postmaster. In 1893, the town was renamed “Interior” by George Johnson because he did not think the name “Black” fit the description of the White River that surrounded the town.

By losing her vision, Fern had found what she was looking for here. They carefully make their way through the darkness to find the white light.

“It’s okay,” he says, peering in. “They’re actually all blue.” He turns toward me. “No choice.”

“Let’s go, then,” I said, and picked one. Any one. The slide begins.

And: out.

Waldo indicates downtown Lost Sanos in the distance where he soon plans to get lost to continue the game, even though he’ll be redder at the time. Not sure why there’re 2 downtowns here, though, to be honest. Have to study.

In other recent Google Earth Street View news while we’re talking about it: feet again.

Giant Foot

Just One Each

Or should I say Google Earth Feet View in these cases?

00440104 (where?)

I picked him as my next NPC to follow because he was red and thus easier to spot, I figured. On my motorcycle, I hid in the flowering bushes, stifling the urge to sneeze while watching his every move. I thought of red striped shirt wearing Waldo who’s always hiding in those famous puzzle pictures, except the shoe’s on the other foot here since I wasn’t wearing red. Red shoes too, I suppose (he checks his feet). Hard to tell from this distance.

He was on the move again and so was I. I looked around for just a second…

… and he was gone! Disappeared as if into the proverbial thin air.

My determination from the overall study: NPCs, even the ones that stick out like a sore thumb, are ultimately impossible to follow in Lost Sanos. They just eventually make themselves… lost.

00430612 (The Letter)

Gerald realizes there’s only 1 bush and not 2. Not 2 S’s in other words. He is a former witcher true, but his name is Gerald, not Geralt. And the “monster” he slayed in Tousaint — 1 s again — is Redd not Rhenawedd, exposed for the double face she is. The immediate giveaway is that she couldn’t be painted, thus artist Greg Ogden’s highly abstracted depiction of her appearing on his canvas much to his chagrin initially. Later he got use to the style, eventually descending further further further into this new art until only pure mathematics and pure chance were left, 2 faces of one thing themselves. You are what you paint.

Harking back to the Oracle there is a historic village named Tousaint in Ohio along the Toussaint River, the lone example of that town name in our country of the US of A. And in the same county of Sandusky with Clyde and Fremont.

Oops. Wrong map. 🙂

We recall that Mikie’s therapist was named Clyde, soon to be changed to Fremont as June-July-August inevitably slides into Fall and beyond. A larger community for higher ideas and ideals. And this returns us to Mars through the backdoor, Asylum bartender Teebestia with a mask herself waiting on Anderson, Norris and Hayes at once, as if she had 3 heads to match each of theirs. Triumvirate.

“I’ll open up the Table to questions.”

00430611 (Mr. S)

They were just experimenting with the one bike between takes, merely rubbing noses it seems, when the director called them back to the set.  “Actually,” he said when they returned to the plywood backdrop in the background above that pictured all things Soos Creek on its other side, “I think we’ll just go with *plywood* this time — let *plywood* be the actor.” The girls logically thought this idea was the result of his rock cocaine imbibed during the break but he was altogether serious. Plywood actor it is, a hire from the Robots Guild. Since he could travel at 181.56 miles per hour and the Guild was only 5 miles away, given a favorable wind and a pretty straightforward path between points A and B it only took him around 2 minutes to reach the set once the call was put in.

“Aaaaanddd ACTION!”

“Hmm, where’d they go?”

Something was wrong here…

… very wrong.

Fern and Lichen decided to stay here for a while and eat their packed lunch to see if the phenomenon reappears at roughly the same spot. Fern believes it could have everything to do with Soos Creek in the foreground she’ll be staring at while dining. Tree barking Lichen knows better. The phenomenon has everything to do with the ring she secretly stashed up her bunghole in her pants pocket before the ride. Owned by someone who is also a Ryder. They would not recreate it while stationary and off the path. Must be on. Moving on…

There (again)!

“Found her, Lichen!” Hiding behind that flamingo, pink for pink. Another revisit of an origin story you’ll notice: Voyageurs, where we all 3 started from. Remember you did that fabulous cow gag where you had me believing Wendy had 4 stomachs when we began studying her? Wonderful!” Fern wanted to encourage and bolster Lichen’s sense of humor as much as possible since she was slated for a stand up gig at Bull’s Bar on the 9th, setting aside her natural sharpness. Or trying to.

That checked off, it was on to the next task. In Washington state. “Keep your eyes peeled for anything giving hints that the energy of Black jumped over here after drying up to continue its existence.” And eventually be shown to the world, she realized while starting up the SIXMILE trail on her bike and thinking about the camera, Lichen right behind her. I’ll remember to give her some lines the next post she’s in, maybe dealing with her bar act (Sorry Lichen!).
