talk of the end of Sam Parr State College.

(joined in progress)

Hucka Doobie:

I for one vote for the disbandment of Sam Parr State College.

Karoz Blogger:

I oppose!

Baker Bloch:

Looks like I’m the tie-breaker.

Baker Blinker:

Don’t forgot me!

Baker Bloch:

Oh, hi there Other Baker.

Baker Blinker:

Hi!

Baker Bloch:

Second Life isn’t running on the home computer any more Other Baker.

Baker Blinker:

Oh.

Karoz Blogger:

Is it my intense focus on sports and attempting to find local rivalries, even amongst the high school rank?

Hucka Doobie:

Well, I think it’s just that the Admin. Building serves as a gallery primarily, and should be grouped with the other baker b. galleries of Collagesity, which most logically means moving it directly south and against the Power Tower and directly across from Falmouth. That’s the decision maker. Then we can build another structure where the admin building use to sit. Am I taking your words again Baker Bloch?

—–

Hucka D.:

See how easy that was? Karoz is not *too* upset. As long as you keep developing the mythology of Noru. We are at a new level in that. A new perch. Sapphire.

baker b.:

We must think of the mayorial problem again. Where’s [Baker Bloch’s] father again? Still in Sunklands?

Hucka D.:

He’s negotiating a treaty with a local tribe of Jeogeot indians. Natives.

baker b.:

Interesting. Sam Parr State College must go.

Hucka D.:

Yes.

baker b.:

Another collage series may even form in the winter-spring.

Hucka D.:

We cannot rule it out. However, I see an emphasis on maps continuing[ for now].

baker b.:

How is that going?

Hucka D.:

You tell me. Electronic records.

—–

baker b.:

Why all this emphasis on Jasper County, Illinois?

Hucka D.:

See above.

Sachie finds a new virtual home.

http://sachiebade.wordpress.com/category/opensim/

Henry Island and Henry Island Lighthouse

Kind of strange thing here. Henry Island is mentioned in the *very first* post of my Baker Blinker Blog, which is also my first blog. It’s the original post on Second Life, where I consider an imaginary island based on the real Henry Island off the coast of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia.

Baker’s Island & Lighthouse

Both have red and white lighthouses of sorts. How cool is that?! Just later, Sachie built a larger, proper lighthouse on a more distant island in her virtual archipelago.

henry-island

xoverhead

Wikipedia article on Nova Scotia’s Henry Island:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Island_%28Nova_Scotia%29

Who is Sachie to me? I discovered her former presence in a virtual sinkhole callled Egg Hill about 4 years back now. Subsequently in real time we were then entangled in the Corsica Incident that took place inside the same sinkhole. The incident is partly embodied in the Trivia Ratsuit tale.

The sinkhole’s sync laden story is here.

http://bakerblinker.wordpress.com/category/corsica-continent/egg-hill-sink-orions-vale/

Some more related links and quotes:

Lighthouse Island : Our Family Escape is a well written description Baker’s purchase and renovation of Henry Island, Nova Scotia. He was able to realize his dream of owning a lighthouse, and in this book he shares that dream with the reader. Rather than turning it into a posh rich man’s retreat, he renovated it in keeping with the history and area. He has created a wonderful place to relax and “get away from it all” for his family. I highly recommend it for those who love the sea and lighthouses.

Opensim Worlds

What I’m loving though about Opensim, beyond all the cool technology that its awesome developers are making, is that it is giving me that feeling I had when I first came into SL. Things a little rough around the edges (though the server works great), the sense of being on a frontier, the DIYness of it all.

There were three moments in the whole process that were absolutely thrilling, comparable even to the moment I left Help Island so many years back and appeared on the main grid!

1. When I logged to my instance and new lands spread out before me.
2. When I made my first hypergrid jump to someone else’s world.
3. When I turned it all off then back on again and it worked!

This Is Not The 9th

So Baker’s Island is the Pluto of this particular system. Is it the actual Baker’s Island off the coast of Cape Breton, or at least an exact replica? I had set up a faux Baker’s Island using a extensively wooded, flat sim in the southwestern part of the Sansara continent. Did I need to find a way to this perhaps much more real Baker’s Island? I had some pondering to do.

newly born Baker Bloch (actual p in the pod) completes sinister Mr. Low’s required task

Resting Place

After Baker had just decided to hunker down for the night in the spooky ruins to await his master, he turned around in his mind the possible reasons for Mr. Low’s request to build the cemetery. Do the 3 stones represent fallen comrades, perhaps those that landed on the SL planet with Mr. Low that he scathingly mentioned once before? And also Baker had the strong suspicion that Mr. Low himself was not really corporeal within SL; he too was a ghost here. Baker jokingly pictured to himself Mr. Low requesting his own headstone, the 4th, for his second task. Then a series of thoughts rapidly culminated in the obvious: the a priori presence; the color; the lining up with the other 3 tombstones; the position higher than the rest. Mr. Low was lowest no longer.

Unlike the wooden grave marker for Pinkins and Jenk-
ins, some person had made much more effort to cut and carve a
grave stone for John Low. Perhaps some members of the fishing
crew, a father or a brother, had returned to Massachusetts to com-
mission a carved gravestone. Another, more likely possibility,
was that the gravestone was carved from sandstone on nearby
Port Hood Island. The French quarried stone on Port Hood Is-
land and it would have been much easier to carve a stone on the
spot, provided one had the necessary skills and tools.
11
The sand
stone, referred to as “free” sand stone was known for being re-
sistant to weathering. John Low may have been a captain of a
fishing schooner or his father, his brother or a friend wanted to re-
member him with a cared gravestone. John Low lies buried on
Henry Island, a distant shore from Massachusetts.

Second Lyfe

I still own a 1024 in the Asha hill country. Interesting now that the parcel next to mine is called Grassy Knoll, reminding me, of course, of our own blog spirit of almost the same name (Grassy Noll), and who also happens to be the most famous of the Mmmmmm toy avatars. It contains the highest hill of Asha. Grassy Knoll is a splendid name for it.

Snapshot8811_001

I probably can’t leave Heterocera completely now, though, witness this nifty, copyable Olympic Century plant. Old continents have more of the older users who know the olden ways, like the more widespread use of copyable plants and objects in general. And that’s a good thing.

Second Lyfe: What I Now Have…

Gave up my 4600+ parcel in Asha hill country and reverted my premium membership back to the free basic. Never really hung out there as it turned out, despite the scenery. I own no mainland now. I still rent in Philudoria (2048) and Asha (1024). Philudoria is where I have my *still* evolving Falmouth Castle or Falmouth Gallery. The Asha 1024 will just be a place to experiment with building if I choose — presently. Collages are still being “hung” in Falmouth Gallery as they are created. Great fun! And it also helps me organize the process. Each floor of the Falmouth Gallery now kind of takes the place of the old Art 10×10 tier structure, still somewhat present in the Gilatona-Lis series from last year (first real batch of collages beyond the 2004-2009 10×10). With Falmouth things are more free form, and I’m producing more collages than ever before. I am more of a collagist than ever before.

Asha hill country after the sale. Hills mostly flattened with the except of my lone one now on the 1024 I still rent there. Oh, and House Greenup is still in the region (house to left in below snapshot).

I’ve decided that I’m going to eventually have to move my Falmouth Gallery to a new location. Sunklands is a distinct possibility, perhaps in a week or 2. Not that Sunklands has much mystical power left, but it’s still a kind of home (like Rubi).

Hucka D.:

As you’ve gleaned, you must return to music. Animation or collage and music. CHRO and Improvisation. And composition, but CHRO.

bb:

CHRO must be treated as a parody.

Hucka D.:

Collagesity?

bb:

The structures make the collages.

Hucka D.:

When I was in Sikk…

bb:

When *I* was in Sikkima, I didn’t have the Power Tower Gowlery finished. Falmouth wasn’t even conceived — a twinkling in a collagist’s eye. VWX Town was the ultimate for me. But I can’t — couldn’t — afford it.

Hucka D.:

No. The concept is sound[ though].

bb:

I went to real Whitehead X-ing today, Hucka. It was getting cold by then, though, and my back was a bit sore. Back trouble, eh?

Hucka D.:

There’s worse trouble. Truck gives you freedom. Keep the truck route.

bb:

Thanks.

Hucka D.:

What did you think of WH X-ing?

bb:

Well, The Emerald hasn’t grown back yet. Interesting to see when that takes place.

Hucka D.:

Soon[ obviously].

bb:

Green Turtle formation still there. Soon I’ll recreate the Thinking Path or Thinking Loop — Contemplation Loop I believe I called it[ last summer].

Hucka D.:

Yes. Important.

bb:

And of course I know that former Grey Rock is now Grey Seal, or Grey Rock topped by Seal Stone.

Hucka D.:

Rock has a mate: Stone. Sharron.

bb:

Stone was already there.

Hucka D.:

Stone is a fairy[ like Rock]. Sharie?

bb:

Stone…

Hucka D.:

Sharon, Greenburg, Meade. It’s there. Emerald. Moss. Meade. Moss Meade.

bb:

And Whitehead — Silver Technological Institute [ STI].

Hucka D.:

And Edward. Stone. Edward Stone.

bb:

Is Edward Stone the Green Turtle?

Hucka D.:

No [ as you’ve guessed].

bb:

One of my missions…

Hucka D.:

One of your missions is to figure out which stone is Edward’s stone or Edward Stone. The Green Turtle indicates that it must be nearby. Meeting of Whitehead and Little Whitehead is a possibility or clue.

bb:

Edward Stone is Emerald City. Maybe Edward Stone was moved.

Hucka D.:

Yes (!)

bb:

Someone put that rock on top of Grey Rock. Getting a few chills.

Hucka D.:

More chills[ are needed].

bb:

Seal Stone is Edward Stone?

[no answer]

bb:

What of the 4 Sticks area? Entered by Big Log[ traditionally].

Hucka D.:

More collages are needed. Don’t stop.

bb:

Nah, I think it’s over, Hucka D. [ the Falmouth collage series — 42 collages (!)]

Hucka D.:

Don’t count, just do.

bb:

Then maybe Roll is with Rock in town.

Hucka D.:

Yes again (!)

bb:

Where do or can you roll a rock?

Hucka D.:

Across Big Log.

Asha Hills 02

My 2 Asha Hills from October 2010, when I owned neighboring Greentop instead for a while. 3 1/2 years ago, wow.

The neighbor to the south has replanted their various hillocks with Caesalpenia (orange) and Lilac (violet) bushes. In checking today, Baker finds that the big house on top of the highest hill on the property has since been deleted. Will the property soon be up for sale?

I called the shorter of the 2 main hills on my present property Horsie Hill at the time, because a statue of a horse was present on its top when I bought the Greentop land. I also determined that this Horsie Hill was basically the same height as Greentop, and lay exactly 128 meters away, or 1/2 a sim.

2010 Greentop property just before I gave it up.

Horsie Hill just after the horse had been moved…

… to the owner’s porch.

Some more shots of 2010 Greentop, its heyday.

Sure, if I could I would plant trees around Greentop similar to what I had set up before. But the hill is now part of abandoned Linden land, with no objects allowed. At least it’s preserved. Abandoned land represents good neighbors.

Asha *Hills*

Now *rent* another 1024 parcel in Asha, adjacent to my own land. Rented from Lama Estates, once more. Super! Now I control about 6000 square meters of Asha hill country. There is now clearly 2 hills on my property, and perhaps a third. Legendary Greentop stands just to the south. And I still have almost 800 prims to play around with in a skybox… more if you add the stuff from the 1024 rental. I’m pretty stoked about that… don’t have any big project planned but it’ll be fun to play around.

King of the (Asha) Hill

I now own land on the Corisca continent — a bit over 1/4th the size of Rubi’s VWX Town and obviously considerably cheaper tier involved. I believe it’s a beautiful spot, and at the time of the purchase, it was the second least expensive mainland parcel over 2000 square meters. Seemed like fate (once more). I call it Asha Hill because it’s in the Asha sim — where I’ve owned once before — and also contains the highest hill of several in the sim, which includes already fabled Greentop discussed in a number of Baker Blinker Blog posts. You can see Greentop in the below photo, center background behind the white Victorian House Greenup. This house/gallery actually had already been established on the edge of my new property about 2 months ago, another reason to assume ownership of adjacent land. A related post on this House Greenup is here.

Snapshot4013_002

Snapshot4013_003

Snapshot4013_004

No town will exist here, although it may have in the past — will think about that more. Instead the hill will be a type of nature reserve, with buildings lining the edge of the property. Presently these buildings are House Greenup. House of Truth, and Home o’ Fibs, all houses of Victorian design, plus the Arcadia Asylum designed Econo Slum Tower that Baker Bloch sits on the top floor of in the pictures above. Amazing view of the surrounding landscape here.
