Noru/Rubi (Again!)

Well, the price kept dropping and dropping on the Hector sim property next to the Rubi Forest, almost hourly it seemed, and finally about 1 o’clock yesterday I called the wife and ask her if I could splurge again on Second Lyfe this month. She okayed the idea if she could herself purchase some extra jewelry supplies, and I promptly bought my 2nd 8192 parcel and fairly quickly set up what is basically a duplicate structure situation as in Noru. That is, the same buildings now exist in Hector as in Noru, including the 3 major collage galleries of mine (Toxic Art, Power Tower, and Fal Mouth Moon). Differences: I was able to include the Temple of TILE in Hector, across from the Norris Gallery/Temple there. What am I going to do with all this land and all the duplication? Well, the plan is to choose one or the other properties by the first of next month, when my tier payment comes around again. I can’t afford another month of this type of tier, that is. But I simply had to buy in both Noru and Rubi for June. And it’s not the first time this has happened, quite amazingly: check here. That’s a post from 4 years ago, and also from the first part of June. What goes around comes around, and this goes triply for Second Lyfe.

I haven’t talked to Hucka D. much recently. Let’s see if he’s around.

Noru… Norum. Dig deeply. Dig into the past of Rubi as well. Whitehead Crossing; isn’t it good.

The Crystal Field is at the top — that’s certainly unique to Hector. And there’s an extra bit of stream between the Toxic Art Gallery toxic falls and Tired Falls in comparison to Noru. Hector seems to have a stronger central axis in this way. The collage galleries are bunched together and more easily toured as a whole — another advantage. What are the continuing advantages to Noru? It’s mostly surrounded by abandoned Linden land so I can play with vegetation on the borders more, like inserting a giant 50 meter maple on the south side. I can re-create the VWX Tower, and am doing so and will probably continue with that today as well as Friday and this weekend. Norum mythology may be stronger than Rubi’s overall (?) I can pull Karox out of mothballs and let him explore around again. But I think, at the bottom, this is about RL Whitehead Crossing; a substitute for the basic inability to explore that land further in summer months.

Some of the crystals in Chrystal Field are green, just like the Toxic Waste Falls. Carrcassonne sits outside the Temple of TILE instead of on the top floor within.

SL News, etc.

[Ike] listened to the tape and he goes, “What is this shit?” and walked out”.

As of tonight I do not own any land in Rubi, Heterocera Continent. I feel an age has come to an end, virtually speaking. From here on, I will continue to do some creative experiments in that reality, but never with whole small communities again. Pietmond will remain unique and a center. Sunklands as well. I’d like to go back and start reading the Baker Blinker Blog over again soon. Spring hiking season is coming up in the mountains. It was a good time to sell. I sold the land for about 75 dollars, about 15 more than I bought it with. Small profit on a land sale for a change! But this is not really about the money. Okay, a bit, since I’d have to pay 75 dollars in tier come Feb. 6th. Now I have to decide whether I want to even keep the 1024 square meter parcel I still own in Philudoria, which I’ve had since July, 2013. I also have a 2048 in the same sim but strangely I don’t have to pay for that. It seems to be some kind of “gift.” So I’m away from the Rubi Forest now, although I *still* do have the TILE Tower there, come to think of it. Interested to see what the new owner of the land develops. Unfortunately I don’t even have some parting shots of VWX Town. VWX Town is no more, Hucka D.?

Hucka D.:

It can return. But probably shouldn’t in Second Life. Keep developing structures. Galleries. Of course still create collages. That will develop the structures around them.

Mountain descends to hill. Bill Hill. Here you have the lemon-lime controversy. We haven’t talked about how Lemon World is encoded in shot 61.

bb:

You’re talking about the poster with the elephant, the lion, the dog.

Yes.

Let’s see. Lemon World supposedly started in the sim of Ratzenberger, on Yd Island. That is the original sim; that’s the original island of the world. Then Lower Astra came second. It was doubled Yd Island. In the center grew the first true Second Life community. In the Mysten sim.

Hucka D.:

I will take over now. You know this is a giant green cube of 1024 proportions. Happy it was called[ at the time]. And of course it was accompanied quickly by Unhappy the Red.

bb:

I can explore now. I am unencumbered [once more]!

Hucka D.:

This community was also called Philo. Your Seven Stones community healed the split between Happy and Unhappy, the green and red. But more important is the collusion [sic?] of Lemon and Lime worlds there. Your 10×10 collages can heal [in many situations] virtually speaking, and Carrcass+2 and Carrcass+1. This is 2006-7. Oblong. Tap into that energy now for stability. This is the Nautilus Continent.

VHC City must now, or in the near future, act as a substitute for East VWX Town. Right now there is an artificial suspension of importance. VWX Town rules uber alles. This is because of the power of The Woods. The Woods must give partial power to VHC City in order to itself survive, or at least live longer. A dual pole is needed, Alpha and Omega. Right now the Alpha and Omega are sort of condensed in VWX Town, see.”

“Baker b. would be a fool to get rid of this forest-side property,” Edwardston R. thinks anxiously. But Edwardston also realizes that I *do* have to downsize at some point. Why not in Jan. instead of Feb.? That way I can declare this a permanent home and move on. I can allow Edwardston and Baker Bloch and perhaps others to study the forest without that hanging over their heads. The House is the beginning.

You are folding up around the hole that is the center of the woods, of the continent. Black Hole of Pond District — formed when you were continuing to work on the 2010 version of the Temple of TILE in Rubi. What kind of black hole is being formed from the [larger gravity] of VWX Town, currently being developed? The Woods created all of this. VWX Town is a true parallel to VHC City. But VHC City is a *response* to The Woods, built around the other 97/97/97. Send Edwardston back.

It’s going to be tough…

… giving up VWX Town, Indulgence in January. Or even preparing for the event. So many stories still untold, like what *did* happen in the basically inaccessible rooms beyond the Confluence Place waterfall?

The Indulgence Residents are always eyeballing the same mysteries I am about The Place. They know so much but tell so little. If I had more time, I could become friends with them, be more their confidant. But of course they can stay — I could move them, say, into the second floor of the Church of The Diagonal, or into the upper levels of Fal Mouth Moon. Yes, of course they’ll stay.

Hucka, I’ve been studying up on The Shining today — big surprise, right? — and came across the following from the excellent Juli Kearns Idyllopus site. Check it out:

Bartok’s “Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta” connects Danny’s cycling about the floor of room 237 with the subsequent scene of Jack typing. The music began as Danny rolled about the upper floor, reaching a crescendo as Danny finished trying the doorknob, seeing the girls, and then moving on to the cycling xylophone scales as the camera zoomed in on Jack from behind, the music ending when Wendy finished her approach and Jack ripped his paper out of the typewriter.

We had previously heard this music when Wendy and Danny entered the maze, it reaching the crescendo as Jack entered the lobby and slammed the ball one last time against the far wall, the cycling xylophone scales playing as he stood over the maze watching Wendy and Danny at its center.

There’s speculation that Bartok used the Golden Ratio in some of his compositions and that we can see in the xylophone scales the Fibonacci sequence as 1:1:2:3:5:8:5:3:2:1:1.

And then:

My reasoning, however, is that Kubrick saw a link between the Fibonacci sequence and the conch shell and the labyrinth and thus the tie in with Bartok’s composition in which we supposedly hear the Fibonacci sequence. Kubrick certainly associated the music with the maze as it first plays when Wendy and Danny are in the maze.

Classical ideas of beauty are supposed to be found in Golden proportions, for which reason I imagine Wendy says to Danny, at the center of the maze, “Isn’t it beautiful?” The beauty of the maze is lost on the audience as all we see is green shrubbery and benches. What Wendy would have had to be referring to was its meeting a Golden proportion.

Remember that we’ve already connected the Rubi Woods to both Kubrick’s Shining Labyrinth and the Lucas Sequence, a twinned series to the Fibonacci sequence Kearns discusses here.
