The best view we can get of our much less notable NC version of Moose Pond via Google Street View. Still — something.

I wonder if these Moose Lodge people have any idea that they meet at such a special place in our geographic landscape. That’s what I’m aiming to find out next. TBC

00510207 (beating heart)

We sent our Osamu Sato double of Okama Majo down to Denmark ME which was logical since he’s attached to that town name through the only two manifestations of Sato across our Great US of A (IL and SC). We’ve already reviewed this a bit in photo-novel 0042, post 0406.

https://bakerbloch.com/2024/03/31/00420406/

The Denmark in this case is at the lower edge of Moose Pond, the best known example of that name. In a much less known example in NC, it had already been marked with an X, the exact center between the Burke County line on the eastern edge of Penelope NC and the Burke County line that crosses the Old Catawba River Dam on its west edge. East and west boundaries, with this in the middle. Funtastic.

Moose Pond — or Moose Sea in Mythos terminology — acted as a kind of control valve for the entire perpetual river surrounding the planet, turning the flow of its water on and off as needed. The body of water’s size fluctuated greatly as a result. Okama Majo was here in Denmark in the Great State of Maine to see if any clues had been left behind for us to see. He takes a pic of the Moose Pond dam from the road at the heart of the town. But that wasn’t it.

In checking around more, Okama finds nothing else down here Google Street View. We’ll have to move on; so many indicators, though.

gold and green

The next night, Golden Jim returns to Baumbeer’s not to investigate the decontaminated crime scene any more but to just sit in the old wooden chair downstairs and stare at tv static, part of the doctor’s therapy for most ailments of the mind. What was he looking for? he pondered as shapes began to form then quickly vanished in the snowy noise. Lu Ellen Hutchinson? Gone, they discovered, leaving her inept frog cousins behind who didn’t know anything. Gill Alex and Blue Berry Girl: also exited, back to MISTY MO we assume. We’re still checking on that whole connection. Another ghost manifests and dissolves, teasing him once more. He senses it is time to return to Gaston, to go back to breaking up prostitution rings and busting drug addicts, more in his line of expertise, ha ha (being a former male prostitute and drug addict himself). Murder’s over his head. He’s grasping to stay above water. The static, the noise threatens to pull him down into the abyss again. One more shape forms and disappears. It’s time to go home.

—–

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the Far *West* as the East likes to call it, Senor Green Jeans shows up at the Neptune Pool on a mission.

“I’m looking for a rabbit,” he spoke in booming voice, looking down at the the 2 people there taking in the morning sunshine. “Small. Wears glasses.”

Alice Farrowheart and Toddles both gawked at him.

“Maybe hangs out with a kangaroo. Perhaps a moose?”

Still stares.

He throws up his huge, hulking arms.  “Anything??”

Alice later wrote the whole thing down in her new-ish “Little Book of Synchronicities”, complete with sketches.

Jim is Dead

It was a logical conclusion. Jim A. was the person in The Room when the Chip Shot bomb went off. Afterwards: both A. and B.; options if you will. Outside and in. Red and green. How it *was*.

With a couple clicks of the mouse (*not* moose!) he could reclaim his Jim Club on Main Street and revitalize Creepy Alley in a limited way. Reestablish a 2ndary beating, cultural heart for the community. Up it from human to alien status. Red to green: next level.

But who would be the centerpiece band? Certainly not Jenny and Keith again. Jenny had gone on to much higher things, although she seems on the downswing lately, having been displaced as the entertainment favorite in rival, upscale Starlite by newcomer Lena Horned. Black like him; good for her! You go girl.

It *could* be The Basterds. That could be a way out of his option maze. Keith B. The B.’s, himself included. Keith never was an A.

The sun was coming up. He decides to enter the ol’ underground bunker for further pondering…

teeth

Preston Weston heard his own voice on the tape his father was viewing. “Hey Dad?”

“Yes Son,” slouching Craighead Phillips Option 01 said from the couch.

“Whatcha watching, heh?”

“Oh, just your school play you put on last year. Can’t get enough of it.” He chuckles at something his son said on the videotape, currently playing the role of Hamlet.

“Cool, cool, heh.”

There was silence between the two as Dad watched act 01 scene 03 unfold.

“Hey Son. There’s Felicia Mae Appletree. Didn’t you have a thing for her (mother) last year?”

“Yeah, heh, a thing,” returns Preston Weston, thinking: duh, still a thing, Dad.

“What did you use to say about her? — so cute.”

“Geez, I don’t know, Dad.” Pacman level 3 had just been reached by eating the last red ghost.

“Yeah, he he, I remember. You said, that apple tree needs shaking, Dad.”

“Right. I remember.” A new ghost appears, new apple color. Green this time.

More silence as each are engrossed in their respective activities. Then Craighead Phillips abruptly switches off the new colored TV his wife bought just this afternoon. “Well, I’m satisfied with the product, Preston. How do you like the new colored monitor we bought in tandem, eh? 1/2 price on each. What a deal.”

“It’s, er, *great* Dad. Never knew there were more than two shades of ghosts. All these colors, heh!”

“Okay, we’re both satisfied. Let’s go tell your mother.”

“Oh, heh. Mom always goes out at about this time to the bridge club.”

“Oh… well, um, let’s get something to eat, eh? Little snack before supper?”

—–

“I’m on my dessert already and you haven’t even hardly touched your sandwich yet. What gives?”

“Oh, a little belly ache I suppose, heh.” Preston Weston forces himself to take another bite of the BLT before him, knowing that his mama would fix a full meal only about an hour later that he would be *required* to finish.

“How was school today? I forgot to ask earlier.”

“Fine, Dad. Thanks for picking me up,” he said with a mouthful.

“You’re welcome.” *slurp*

“How’s, er, mom’s mouse?”

“That’s mousse, Son. And it’s fine.” *slurp*. “Almost perfect, actually.”

“Oh right. Mousse, like the animal moose. Not a mouse, hehe, heh.”

“Right Son.” *double slurp* “Well, I’m done. Guess it’s time to go.”

“You heading back to — where, heh, did you say you came from today?”

“Athlone Village. In the middle of it all, which is — go ahead and say it with me, Son.”

“Which is unfortunately in the way,” they utter in tandem, Preston Weston rather reluctantly, tired of the old saying.

—–

“What time did your father leave today, Preston Weston?” Her voice suddenly had that edge to it. Father talk edge.

“Oh, heh. Um, about 4 I guess. Maybe, heh, closer to 5?”

“Bridge time, then, hmm,” Your Mama dismissed.

Preston Weston wanted to ask his mother if that bridge would ever get built but resisted the urge.

She turned to her other son, in the chair. “How about you Robin? When did *you* get home from the wilds? Did you also see your father?”

I’m not his son, he thought. “Oh, about 5 as well. Must have just missed him, sorry.” He wasn’t sorry.

They all kept watching “Leave it to Beav” in living color after this. Starring: the Beav.

“Look Ma,” Preston Weston indicated. “Like *me*!”

He was suddenly inside the TV set again, 3 hours lost.

infiltration 02

“It is indeed,” Sister Martha Lamb muttered to herself while studying “Bullrocks” (Falmouth 08) and seeing the phrase “Copyright Protected Image” adhered to the mason jar with the fake bull moose inside. But she couldn’t help being intrigued by all the intertwined legs and shoulders — bull in jar, bull outside jar, and that ridiculous Mr. Bean man Rowan Atkinson involved as well. Aliens, hrmph. She couldn’t stand them. They didn’t exist in her world. The World of Cheese. “This one will go first to prove my point and to cut the heart out of the resistance at the beginning.” She turned. “Now… the hand.”
