“It’s stronger than I remember, Buurb. If it wasn’t for this house…” Mabel trails off here, thinking of possibilities.
“We’re not ready to go out,” counters her husband. They were married in the backyard of this very structure last year, but it had been added onto since. 3 floors now, with this being the topmost.
“Collagesity needs us,” states the wife. “Needs my — our energy.”
storied house 02
It was a beautiful house, but quite prim heavy at 195li. And that’s unfurnished. Impractical, most likely, to set up in present day Collagesity except on a temporary basis. And Mabel wasn’t going to go *back* without it, I don’t think. So it looks like they’re stuck in Heartsdale for a while longer.
Although well beyond its glory days, the town still retained some interesting landmarks. There was the coffee and sweets shop on the corner of Blown Apart and West Anglia. This is Mabel and Buurb’s favorite table within they’re sitting at here, with the great view toward their house (their house??). Mabel usually only drinks coffee. Buurb sometimes gets a whole wheat danish roll, like today. Mabel knew there wasn’t any use in trying to change Buurb’s mind over leaving, so she instead talked about New Island and how they got here. She sometimes read her associated diaries to Buurb late at night while they, let’s say, sipped cognac and munched on taffy popcorn.
It all revolved around the vinyl version of “Sometime in New York City” and the void in the center of Lennon’s solo career it represented. Slavery? That’s what they often discussed, and, yes, occasionally argued about. Very occasionally. For Mabel was against slavery of any kind in any fashion. Buurb made some qualified exceptions.
“Take the South after the Civil War,” he said today after taking the first bite of his roll and then setting it back on the small plate.
“No, don’t go there,” his wife demanded, also wishing her husband wouldn’t speak with his mouth full.
He chewed and swallowed; lightly smacked his lips. “Given 5, 7, 8 years, don’t you think President Lee would have freed the slaves himself? And the South might have been better going that route. Take carpetbaggers…”
“I *said*, I don’t want to hear it.” She ‘d have nothing negative spoken about Stove Top Lincoln. Andrew The Tailor Johnson, however, was often open for potshots. But she wasn’t in the mood this morning. She kept thinking about the house across the street. It was and wasn’t their house; another quandary. They were married there, true. But they also still lived in the trashy alley that followed from Old Church Street beside it across St. George Street at its front. The sale hadn’t been finalized. And the mortgage would be 2 full months’ wages between them (!). Could they really afford it? Were they digging a financial grave they would never emerge from? But the house! So perfect. If I could just get it to Collagesity, Mabel thought, we’d have a piece of property with no attached tax, no attached anything; that’s how things work there.
“Look at Pitch Darkly,” she said to Buurb another time on this subject. “Look at Woody (Woodmanson). Refuges… like us. The Bakers take them in, make sure they’re wanted and provided for. You’d like The Bakers, Buurb.”
“I knew Baker Blinker,” he corrected. “Or I at least knew someone who claimed to be her.”
“Oh yes,” Mable said, a pang of jealousy crossing her heart. Her Heartsdale heart. “Precious Snowflake.”
Because she was still around. We’ll revisit her soon and find out more of her story.
“What are you doing out there silly?” speaks Burrb through the window pane at his wife. “You’re 15 minutes late — can you hear me?” Mable nods. “You’re 15 minutes late,” he repeats.
“I was trying to find the diary,” her muffled voice sounds from outside.
“The dairy?” he playfully replies and smiles. “Down the road and to your right.” But Mable wasn’t inclined toward games and just indicates the book with the hand in her hand and goes around to the front door to enter.
30 minutes later, Mabel had spilled the wine about Mid Hazel, Karoz Blogger, Precious Snowflake, and the Ohno sim in general.
Buurb demanded a field trip.
But they weren’t going to ascend that hill to the haunted Palmer Lodge in the middle of the night.
Oh no (sorry).
“When in Rome”
“It was always going to be you and me, babe,” spoke robot Bendy from the couch. “And Alberta here too, I guess. What’s he hunting today?”
“Shellfish,” answers mergirl Prissy from her stand.
But Alberta’s greater passion was providing equipment for journeys into the center of the Earth. He waits patiently for his master Dr. Mulholland to finish her ride.
Er… his ride. This may take longer than expected.
“We’re outta here Jack.”
Jack manifests who he really is. “Goodbye Bendy my old friend. Safe journeys.”
“Hold on to your seat Fisher! HERE WE GO!”

“I thought this lobster might at least partially make it up to you, Catvas. I’m so sorry I’ve neglected my painting lately. It’s that darn chess game. I can’t decide on the next move!”
“I’m Catvas II, actually,” the feline across from her corrected while purring over the dinner. “You can tell the difference by my fishtail, which Catvas I doesn’t have. Instead she has the wings of a bird. In truth, The Bill, I think you might be losing your grip. The chess battle is turning your mind soft and fuzzy, like Stan over there.” Catvas II nods toward the hairier cat washing dishes tonight. “I suggest: withdraw from the match. If black wins, that might also be the end of *you*.”
“But,” counters The Bill, “that also means the reds and yellows stand victorious over the carcasses of the blues and greens. No, Catvas, er, II, this is not just a black and white situation. There are winners and losers in all 4 corners of the world.”
Then Grassy returned from the bathroom and they knew not to say anything more about all that.
When to move you first, my Queen? Rey Wisa ponders from far below.
Sidechick Corea appears from behind. “Magus Ellen,” he speaks formally. “The blue boy Opp is here.”
“Great, great. That’s really great.” He pulls the ice cream cone from his pocket and takes a thick, satisfying lick. ” Yes, put him in the middle of all this and I’ll be there shortly. Quick stop over at Iris first.”
“Very well, sire.” Sidechick Corea takes his leave to execute Rey Wisa’s orders.

In the middle of the night, Donald Farr sometimes visits neighbor Chuck Close and talks about how he wrecked that plane and killed all those people 5 years ago.
But he always ends with something to the effect that it all might have been worth it just to get here.

Eraserhead Man could now easily open the rabbit hole with his mind from the opposite end of the yard.
And Karl had fully transitioned.
“Whoa, ho ho. Daylight!”
Annie’s turn now.
“Just relax, Annie. Close your eyes. You’ll be in the sun again before you know it.”
Tonya Two Egg…
…. seems to be trying to communicate with me again.*
I’m assuming this has something to do with Heterocera’s Pond District, but could be wrong.
* Compare with the second snapshot of this February post:
Mabel was not literally stuck in Pipewold; she could emerge and investigate New Island if she wished, her ultimate home if things in Heartsdale didn’t work out. She had to manipulate what she could in the meantime — to prepare. Mabel was looking for this mysterious Leeman or Leemon who supposedly created the whole shebang. Is *this* him? she thinks here.
Hummie the Hummingbird (another one) wasn’t telling.
Buurb didn’t like to come out here, she knew. Says it’s like reading ahead in the hot red book of your life. Plus, taken individually, he had more at stake than Mabel. But there were still other avenues to explore. She hadn’t given up on Baker Bloch bringing their beloved Heartsdale house (or some equivalent) to Collagesity. She knows in one reality this *must* come about. But it’s a domino effect — that would mean, perhaps, the displacement of Karoz Blogger’s TILE Temple, implying *he* wouldn’t have the opportunity to return. And where would that leave mate Baker Blinker?
Mabel wanders back down the beach, toward the far side of the pipe. [Leemon’s?] Beach had been set as her personal limit in this direction. She couldn’t stay out too long — for Buurb’s sake. She spots Volkswagen Gurl leaning against the large, white house in the distance, but too late to turn around. Luckily the chatty lady went AFK before a potential engagement.
She also ran into Yarco on the way back and they held a brief discussion about cactuses, another type of pipe in a way, he explained. Yarco was a graduate assistant in the biology department at New Island Community College, the same place where Robot Derak Jones teaches physics and astronomy. Mabel thought the young lad was a bit full of himself, but he provided useful information at times. And also Mabel felt he could be trusted. She had dirt on him and he her. They were trapped on New Island for similar reasons. Oops, there’s his tanned slave boy. Time to leave, she understands.
Mabel sighs before heading back inside. 242, 121 here at the water’s edge, she notes again. This is where the world splits asunder.
Annie arrives on the island at exactly 12 midnight Standard Linden Time. The witching hour, quite appropriately. She still didn’t really understand why she had to come the long way by boat and her pal Furry Karl was able to successfully use the short cut portal back at Horizons — but, *whatever*. She was here now and she was excited!
Now to find Eraserhead Man’s home on this silly map Norris gave her.
Bill (Wheeler) spoke over the loud, synchronized drumming. “These guys are nice, Grassy, but I feel something is missing. Why don’t you go up and join them! You played a mean bass steel pan in your college days, didn’t you? The Merrymen wasn’t it?”
“We *emulated* The Merrymen,” the Mmmmmm Grassy clarified. “Played a lot of their songs. But Calypso and the Carribean are far back in the rear view mirror now.” He sighed. “We better head over and meet Catvas I and Catvas II for bridge. I’m afraid that’ll have to do for our synchronized quartet tonight, ha.”
“Catvas I always smells of bird,” Bill complains. “And Catvas II of fish.”
“You smell of lion,” Grassy continued the grousing. “And I smell of, um, sodden earth? Haystacks?” He looks down at his white, sneakered feet. “Haven’t quite pinned it down.”
“We’ll get to Montana and then we’ll know.” Bill leaned in closer and lowered her voice. “Got any more of that wacky weed on ya? I brought some tweezers.”
“Then I’ve got the pony, hehe. We’ll figure out the rest later.”
Bill carefully laid down the now empty tweezers on the seating. “Ahh. Life is good, Grassy. Grass. But all this reminds me.” She waves her arm around to indicate. “I really should get back to that chess game with Ellen.”
“You’re lion *snicker*”.
15 minutes later:
“I wonder what the Catvases did tonight in our stead?”
“Gilmore the Axe Man drug me off dry land and down to this wet, swampy place,” spoke former Collagesity resident Roger Pine Ridge, freshly dried off from a not-so-refreshing dip. “But mixed up girl-boy Lee Mann will lead us to heaven and the moon. We will take to the air to escape.”
Per usual as of late, Cyberpaperdoll was only half listening to her boyfriend, this time engaged in a lusty staredown with Bandit Boy floating on a nearby inner tube. Roger Pine Ridge had grown boring to her. She needed a sense of danger in her life. Moths and the moon, moon and the moths. That’s all she kept hearing about lately. She continued to plot a change… a ditching. But when was the right time? Maybe this weekend at the St. Patrick’s Day party over at Fishy’s. She simply wouldn’t show up. Leave this watery place, but not with wings. In that cute little pink sports car of Bandit’s. The one with the horn that neighs like a heated pony. Bandit Boy then pulls a banana from his pocket and peels it slowly while continuing to state. Mmmmmm, she thinks.
Don’t go there, visiting Catvas II thinks on her own.
The Catctii behind her remain neutral on the subject, though.
They’d seen more in their days.

I think Aquarium Guy might have found a home in Bluebells, Nascera.
Another satisfied customer!
Meanwhile, in nearby Kolbird…
“Do you understand what you have to do, Campbell?”
all a board
“If you get confused or lost, Campbell, we’ll go ahead and design this as a place you can come to achieve clarity. Now I’ll go ahead and sit beside you since I’m already here. I’m Bracket Jupiter.”
“Hi Bracket,” speaks Campbell O’Pine cordially. “Nice to greet you.”
“So logically that places Spongeberg beside you on the other side. Spongeberg is currently playing the role of your Mmmmmm cousin Grassy Noll. Remember to call him Grass as much as possible. Last seen: getting stoned with Wheeler who is now The Bill. We’ll get to her in a minute. So we’ll seat Grassy who is Spongeberg beside you, since you’re kind of partners. Grassy, can you change into your base character just so Campbell will know what it looks like.”
“Sure.” He changes.
“And I’ll do the same.”
“So here we are,” Bracket says. “Let’s spread it out a little further. Beside me would be Wheeler we spoke about before. She plays a variety of characters but we’ll place her here in the base or core form again. And then beside Spongeberg we have Karoz Blogger — we’re getting into the older souls now of the blog, Campbell.”
“Okay. Hi Wheeler. Hi Karoz.”
“And then beside them we have The Bakers: Baker Bloch next to Wheeler over there, and then Baker Blinker sitting beside Karoz Blogger. Baker Blinker and Karoz are married — you guys are married still?”
“Yes,” they answer jointly and in unison. No stares were directed toward Wheeler.
“Baker Blinker and Baker Bloch,” Bracket continues, “are the owners of Collagesity. We’ll visit there soon for further orientation. But for now you must remain in Nascera. *Don’t* go back to New Island. Don’t get lost again.”
“Alright.” But both knew he would.
“And then to round out the circle we have resident blog spirit Hucka Doobie sitting directly opposite you. This is her classic bee form, but she’s refined it a bit now. Would you like to show us, Hucka?”
“Not right now,” the bee person requests.
“Since Hucka most understands among us about getting lost, she’s going to take you under her wing, Campbell.” Awkward pause here, then Bracket realizes his mistake. “Aww, I subconsciously made a bee joke. I’m sorry, Hucka. I know you’ve changed.”
“Are you sure you wouldn’t like to show us how much you’ve changed now? Just for more orientation. It’s important Campbell here knows.”
“And I can hide my antennae under my hair if needed,” she furthers.
knights and bishops
Nascera is the continent of the Linden Homes – “ready-to-move-in homes belonging to a themed community and available only to premium account members”. Read all about this on http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Home-overview/ta-p/700103. There are several landmasses with Linden Homes visible on the map now. But it seems, they still are all called Nascera 😉
After the others had gone back to their respective homes — Baker Blinker and Karoz to Chilbo; Hucka Doobie to Gaston; Wheeler and Spongeberg/Grassy to Iris — Baker Bloch decides to stick around and explore more of Nascera, kind of picking up where he left off those over 8 long years ago now. He’s pretty sure this plaque in Budsic wasn’t here before when he biked around the continent’s 8×8 original core of sims in the days. The Lindens had subtly and sometimes not so subtly changed the landscaping surrounding the central California Modern region since his initial forays.
Ryu and Ingerstall, he thinks after reading the story behind the Vertical Blinds Historic Battlefield. That would be the position of black queen’s knight and black queen respectively on Wheeler and Ellen’s chessboard, hmm. And Budsic here between them: the black queen’s bishop. Queerly, Karoz Blogger subsequently found a white bishop in a new Nascera sea southwest of here, after the early 2010 continent expansion beyond the original 8×8. Beyond the confines of a chessboard design, that is. And then, much more recently, Baker Bloch himself found a *black* bishop in a neighboring sim while popping over here one night for a quick visit.
And now this plaque in a “black bishop sim”; chess was definitely a theme to be dealt with. But what would be — or has been — Ellen’s next move beyond his Knight to King’s Bishop 3? Wheeler is greatly confused as to the weakness of her play so far.
“There. I’ve finally done it,” proclaims Bill (Wheeler) back in Iris. “Knight to Rook 3; weak knight move counters weak knight move. Let’s see what she does with it. But now I can finally rest at night!”
Ellen’s next move came much quicker than expected.
