devolution 02

They continued to poke around Adgatetown, Madame Silver’s mouth agape all the time. “How can anyone *live* like this?” she asked as they paused in the middle of a residential neighborhood. “In these simple, monochromatic, um, *houses* dare I call them?”

“I don’t think anyone really *does* live here, at least any more. Except Mr. Jaspers and Miss Halsey and maybe a couple of others.”

“Destined to get together, you have reassured me,” Madame Silver spoke of the pair.

“Yes.” Pretty sure, Axis then thought to himself, still worrying slightly about the match that has to be.

“Reeling Lisa the Vegetarian back, back, back to Fisher’s Island and namesake Orange Boy. Like a fish — get it?”

“I get it.”

“Back to the beginning again.”

“Right.”

“I’ve almost seen enough of this Adgatetown, but let’s examine the juicebar. That could be a potential problem area. Resonance with (Wallytown’s) Bar Lemon; possibility of one cancelling out the energy of the other.”

“We’ve made sure,” spoke Axis, “that limeaid has been properly substituted for lemonade in key moments. Like yesterday morning.”

“Good, good.” Madame Silver seemed pretty satisfied with this explanation. “But I still want to take a look.”

—–

“Yes, the limeaid is quite quenching,” cooed the glittery dame to her partner in crime. “It’s getting dark, though; don’t want to run into Lisa here.”

“No worries,” soothed Axis once more. “She’s in an alternate timeline and would only get a quite distorted version of ourselves at best. Maybe, say, a sparrow and a crow eating cracker crumbs off a glass table.”

“Nice.”

“Thank you.”

“You make a good evil dude.”

“Thanks again, madam.”

“One day you will be my black knight in armor.”

“We’ll make it so.”

“A black king, even. And I: the *silver* queen.” They clink cups to that.

mum 01

He was staring at the test pattern on the television, wishing MTV was on this late at night, when the soft knocks came at the door. He checked the clock on the wall to his left: 2:01 am on the nose. Heart beating harder, he knew this could only be one person given the precise timing. Ragdoll and Indigo had both gone to bed around 11, he reckoned; most likely fast asleep. Because he knew what the conversation would be about and there was no need for his daughters to be involved right now.

Even then, with only this brief prompt, Angus Nuffin started making assessments of his property, started planning how to get from this place to another place. For The Diagonal here had been losing energy for a considerable amount of time now. There was hardly anyone over at Lollygagger Lane these days for instance, although in its heyday it was one hopping place. Like a perpetual bunny hop, and he inwardly laughed at his joke. Because this meant the person at the door had also visited the psychiatrist over there already. She would not remember the contents of their meeting until later, maybe not until after the move, he speculated. He might even have to be in disguise for a while wherever they ended up.

The soft knocks repeated. Better not keep *our queen* waiting any longer. He made himself get up off the couch and answer the door.

“I think you’ve been expecting me?”

Angus immediately spotted the large red ring on the strange woman’s hand. “Yes, mum. Please come in.” He waved her over to the most comfortable chair in the trailer.

roamings

There wasn’t much in the way of art in Heartsdale to Mabel’s disappointment. One gallery showing mainly soft core erotica — well, a lot of it wasn’t even erotica, just women posed in various suggestive manners, let’s say. But there were some other types of works mixed in here and there, like this painting called simply “Dancer” that Mabel kind of liked. And this one below named “Country Road”. When visiting, Mabel sometimes imagined traveling down this picturesque road — outta here (like in that old John Denver song).

In Collagesity, there were rumors that you could actually go inside Baker B.’s collages to different Real Lyfe locations. Maybe the same could apply here, she thought.

—–

The town had plenty of empty buildings and apartments. Mabel again wonders what it looked like in its more golden days. When it was closer in time to Collagesity. When did the split occur? Does it have something to do with the house? *Their* house? It must be, Mabel concluded some time ago.

—–

Mabel had begun to smoke. “2 packs of Lucky Stripes, Jim,” she requests to the owner of the town’s lone convenience store. “And a couple of snickers.” It was a habit born mainly of, well, boredom. Not much to do in Heartsdale, as you the reader have probably picked up. Buurb worried about her continued health, but he figured it would turn around once she had her house. Then they would be focused on fixing it up, showcasing it even for the rest of the community. Maybe open a gallery in part of the downstairs. Mabel could paint up on their favorite floor, the 3rd. Scenes of town, even. She would turn around, he believed. Returned immersion in art would aid immensely. The parts of Heartsdale that seemed sour or boring would have new light shed upon them. It all revolves around the house.

Mabel returns to their alley apartment, planning to light one up as soon as she got inside.

where they are…

Gaeta 5 is the only finished continent of the Gaeta series. The initial project was to build 5 continents (named from Gaeta 1 to Gaeta 5), then to unite them into a single block of sims. Today, only Gaeta 5 is complete and a part of Gaeta 1 was built. Gaeta 5 is the most compact continent, with no gulfs or estuaries. On map, [it] has a [peanut shape]. This continent is an endless plain. It is linked to Corsica by a two-sim large passage (see Transcontinental Channels).

downstairs

Who are these weirdos downstairs? Mr. Babyface thinks while reloading his pipe with Red Dragon and staring at the latest Sunklands post. He *should* be thinking about how to extract his nephew from the Land of Hana Lei, but his thoughts keep drifting back to the walls of his apartment. Qui Quon here…

… Jharmelion behind. He’s read the rental lease a couple of times now. Paraphrasing, it states that you are to leave the Korean Channel wall maps intact and also not cover the *land* parts with furniture or decorations or risk facing a fine. Water’s okay (minus the sim titles), and why he can get away with repositioning his media player atop the totally liquid Qui Quon. No solid ground atall in that sim. He’s pushing the limit, though, with Jharmelion and the couch he sits upon — right against the shoreline.

Mr. Babyface also wants to trade out this picture of the Lordshore bridge if possible.

The Lordshore wall is 2 floors below him, in that Greg or Gregg’s apartment — whichever. I hope landlord Baker Bloch makes a decision on which Greg or Gregg will survive in Collagesity soon, he thinks. Or perhaps Baker Blinker will make the choice? He’s still unsure of the Bakers’ relationship with each other. Married? Siblings? Unrelated?

He goes upstairs to double-check the maps there for compliance while he’s thinking about it.

future legend

“Trust me,” Rocky says. “You won’t be able to get through that narrow opening to the main street, Danny. We’ll have to go around the back of this building to reach the hotel.”

“Oh all right. Stupid anti-superhero powers.”

On the way, Rocky watches yet another person jump off one of those so-called suicide platforms to their death on the rails below. “Third one this week,” he says to himself.

“Hmm, this one won’t make it either. Come on Danny! Over here!”

“Hmph. Could have swore this was an alleyway just the other day. Go ahead and try it anyway Danny, hehe.”

“What a Fool. Okay, let’s move on boy. Man-boy.”

“*This* is Main Street, Danny. But the hotel’s now 2 blocks down. I’m famished. Let’s see if we can find some place to eat, eh?”

“Doughnut,” Danny answers. “Doughnuts and pig.”

—–

“What’s this, then?” Rocky disables camera constraints.

“A trapped little peoploid!”

dead and alive

But Summerhill Nova certainly had her own issues apart from all this new stuff. An estranged sister front and foremost. “Why did you have to go away?” she asked while staring over at her ghost in Eastside Park. They had played here often as children. Baseball was the game then. Dead ball era. She always took the role of pitcher Baby Ruth. Her sister was Butterfingers, an ironic name because she was best at catching. Always hanging around home.

Across the tracks, Pitch Darkly became lively again.
