clubbing

They were on another circular island quite larger in size, although not far away. The associated club was called D’Vine, resonating with both Devine and Vineland in Colorado, especially since the name is a play on Eden’s fruit vine with the cursed apple and all. I knew because the neighboring sim was Danshire (with the much smaller, circular island we’ll get to soon) that synchronicity was strong here. This is the spot — a direct extension of Danshire — to continue our story…

I called in Wheeler to reprise her role of Heidi Hunt Ives from Gaeta V in novel 7. I knew she’d be up for it. Also remember that Tom Casey beside her is a method actor, going deep into the role of Casey One Hole he’ll always be identified with.

“Are all my fingers here?” she started, worried about the doubled manifestation. Two alts in one location sometimes spells trouble. But then she counted to 10 and moved on, an old practice. She looked over at Tom Casey, noted the coal black eyes staring into her. Good! It’s a role of a lifetime, she feels. To work with the great director Eraserhead Man on a new project, to go into the Red Room again and face a faceless man who has information he *wants*, not needs, and then, when not getting it once more, finishes the deed he should have accomplished long ago on a continent now far far away. Or at least an ocean away. Well, only a strait away to be honest. Gaeta V I’m talking about here, the faceless continent that we probably won’t be returning too much for more action and adventure in these here Collagesity photo-novels. Neighboring Corsica continent to the west seems to be a different story. Much different as it’s turning out. The D’Vine island mirroring the earlier Danshire island just next door is witness to this. Synchronicity! How I need that energy. Back to the actors…

“Tom — Casey, I mean. Can I call you Casey?”

Tom/Casey considered what Casey would say. How deep was he? Not quite enough to answer correctly. But that was good! In a way. “Yes,” he said.

Heidi Hunt Ives noticed the slip and called it out. “But I think you *wouldn’t*, Casey *One Hole*. Do you still remember how you got that name?”

“Of course,” he replied, but didn’t go into specifics. Casey One Hole would not have gone into specifics. He was going deeper again.

“Nice.” HHI became pleased again. “So tell me about the Yankton prison, then, formerly a college as I understand or remember it now. Why do you need schematics?” This was different. Casey One Hole enjoys talking about the prison. It is what the character is centered around. It’s like this island to his story.

He managed to glance over at the center (table), wishing he was there instead of here.

And then there he was. Heidi Hunt Ives, of course, joined him. Let’s listen in.

(to be continued?)

deeper

Aunt (Golden) Josephine goes to the cemetery to pay her respects and receives a surprise.

“Aah. Tully you old rascal. Dug up again.” Josephine shakes her metallic head, making it slightly rattle. Something gold was loose within. “They should have never allowed that passage in the memoirs mentioning wanting to be buried with the ring, tsk tsk tsk.”

“Good thing I dug you up *first*.” She slips it on, stares forward across the bay. “Now who would take the whole *body* this time. Full cavity search?”

She can see it in her mind’s eye now.

A bear? she thinks. Purple? Aah, must be Purple Wolverine changing shapes again, she realizes with higher insight once more. Hiding out at the old quarry ’til things simmer down, huh?  Well… *two* can play that game.

She removes the ring before more ill will is done to her soul. She knows enough for today.

Time to report this grave robbery to the authorities. Ironic that Purple Wolverine use to be the local authority. Before the mist got him.

“See? It’s all about Greenup, Mr. Babyface. This Floydada Lime it’s called.”

“All (sections) named after fruit?”

“That is correct my fine neighbor.” His voice was mild and youthful; his neighbor’s gruff and aged, countering the babyface appearance.

“Well… if you’re Pierre, as you say, then this town is in for a lot of turning upside down soon. Do you plan to bring back Carr?” Carr was short for Carrcassonnee, the former, alien ruler of Collagesity/7 Stones before the 2016 coup.

“It all depends,” he replies to the babyface man with the gruff, aged voice. “Tell me all about this Wheeler.”

—–

“Damn eyesore it is,” Mr. Babyface suddenly declared, pausing in his spiel about present town ruler Wheeler. “Look at that thing looming up in the air.” He indicated out the window at the boxy Edwardston Station Gallery, the skybox everyone in town is voting on whether to keep. We have two naysayers in the matter sitting here in Mr. Babyface’s lower floor of his Kidd Tower apartment. Mr. Babyface decided “no” the minute he set eyes on the cube; The Man About Time’s choice came a little later. And now he had “Floydada.”

—–

“There’s also a ‘Floydadada’, Mr. Babyface. That’s the one I want next — might even be in SoSo. When I find that I’ll tell the townspeople who I really am, and that I wasn’t killed atall in that giant Lake District gash known as Piers Gill. Instead: Gills Pier. Michigan. 2052.”

But Mr. Babyface knew all about the legend of Pierre Schaeffer. It had been taught in his schools since he was a babyfaced lad.

“Let me show you something, neighbor. *Confidant*.” He scrolls the page down just a bit. “This is me.”

“Who are *you*?”

“The Boss,” the other figure whispered while motioning for Little Oakley Annie to pipe down. “Who’d you think?” She indicated her torso. “Hence the color.”

“Okay. I think I get it. But what’s with the TV head?”

“Oh. Sorry. Leftover from the last scene.” Grey Scale Kimball removed the prop, then continued. “I’m obviously here to break you out of this place. This *Northern* Jael.”

“Hal-le-lujah. Let’s hit the roads.” The door opened; Grey Scale was in on the code.

“The South’s gonna *rise* again,” LOA expressed as they left the House of Truth together, gathering up one of the chickens outside for a victory supper later on.

Bald Seal Prelude

Baker Bloch next checked Hana Lei for survivors, but the members of the band Lamb — Peter, Paul and Mary — were nowhere to be found. Baker thought of the perhaps odd coincidence that the 3 locations beginnning with “H” in his overall lexicon were all clustered together if sorted by number of posts. 15 for Hana Lei here, 16 for Heartsdale, and then 14 for Horizons. But none of these places seemed relevant any longer — all used up for meaning. He couldn’t stop thinking about the 3 “H”‘s, though, and how it perhaps — again — points to the Omega continent (through Kentucky). Better get back to Bauerbridge, then…

… but the high dune had been masked by a thick thicket of trees. Big Thicket? Edward Swift once more?

April Mae’s small cemetery remains at the edge of the thicket, where her husband Septimius Felton was buried and which we see her visit several times in the last Collagesity novel (last?).

I’ll just do a little grave maintenance while I’m here.

The Angel of Death reached out for Baker Bloch’s hat again.

keeping it real

Fisher stared at the red and yellow condiment containers of the Deep Fried fast food stand, understanding that he had seen them before — alive. Obviously in a dream, he thought at the time.

But no. It was reality. The *stand* was a dream.

By the time The Bill had returned to Collagesity, Pitch Darkly was already well into his Russian phase. He had recreated Maebaeleia’s Russian Matrix in the town skybox, a Second Lyfe landmass he insisted on calling the *Russian* continent and not the Japanese Continent, although the latter was its most common nickname (Just to be clear here, many consider the continent’s primary name to be Satori and not Maebaleia, but let’s don’t go into that right now). “Look at the Jeogeot-Maebaleia Rabbit Hole,” he would argue with Buster Damm and others who expressed confusion about his terming. “The Maebaleia end is in Ubab… Ubablab…” “Ulyanovskuly Oblast,” Buster might correct Pitch on any given night. “Yes, the oblast or politcal region where Lenin was born, true,” he might say. “That’s the only way it worked,” Pitch then could continue. “Russian… or actually *Polish* in that movie with the 47 Room…” “‘INLAND EMPIRE,'” Buster Damm might accurately insert here. “Yes,” Pitch could reply, “the Jeogeot-Maebaleia Rabbit Hole is the same as the hole or portal in that movie, caused by pressing a lighted cigarette through a folded piece of cloth. That way you become Rebus Caneebus and fall in. All the way to Russia. Or Poland.” “‘Back in the USSR,'” Buster might tack on in an attempt to wrap the topic up and move on to other things.

The Ulyanovskuly Oblast side of the Rabbit Hole had long been smoothed over, but once it looked like this:

The other side of the hole, in the sim of Blackmount in what I call the Sunklands district of the Jeogeot continent, remains intact quite amazingly, thanks to the faithful stewardship of long time owner Alyx Sand, with whom I exchanged a couple of messages over the subject some years back now. As I recall, she inherited the hole, and made the obvious connection that it was a rabbit variety leading to parts unknown. Pitch has since followed up on my initial contact, asking if Alyx ever fell through the hole when it was actually and truly operable. Before the time of direct teleportation between two distant points in Our Second Lyfe, in other words. She indicated to him that it no longer served that function when she purchased the land in 2007.

Pitch has made several pilgrimages to the Blackmount hole in the last several months, falling in on purpose each visit just to see what would happen. No “bottomless pit” this time leading to another “dimension.” Only immersion in a small pool of Linden water at the terminus of an approx. 100 meter fall. Try it for yourself!

“Hmmm, a WWII American fighting plane on the extreme corner of the Sands property,” Pitch thinks. “An F4U-1D Corsair, vers. 2.5,” Buster Damm might clarify here.
