return

Duncan’s a sucker for Linden trees, but he better get back on the trail. He’s going to recommend that Pot-D doesn’t rent (from *Life* properties) the old Rhode Gallery land next to that crazy Dixie chick. Now follow this: the Rhode Gallery that was directly across the *road*… from the sim of *Rhode*nwald. But it all seemed chance, as people put it. A random alignment of no consequence. Pot-D knew better. That’s why he’s on the payroll, at least for the moment. Next month: we’ll see. He’s always on call, though, back at his home still in VHC City, raising up Boy George to be the adult man he will become. He’ll grow into my shoes, thinks Duncan here. He will be a fine replacement one day. Duncan has a really hard time believing he’s 61 himself, graying hair on the temples. Back to the center, though. He can dream away his little dreamy thoughts in VHC City during his off times.

Hmm, nothing seems to have changed that much. The Baby Trump blimp is still present. The park seems the same, sans the pumpkins — not in season yet. Let’s certainly don’t rush Fall! Duncan is of course curious if a man or couple named Black still own a good chunk of property here, including the park if he remembers correctly from last year when he first visited.

Yes he remembers this nice walk too. But no sign of the Blacks, although one of the two might remain, surname changed. Did they split up in the meantime? And, he couldn’t help himself: does this leave room for *me*?

Crazy romantic.

Other end of the path: what appeared to be another anomaly.

Yes it was. The circumstances that caused the reported one last year — and got Pot-D excited about Rhodenwald in the first place — are still present. He better get back to the group.

Duncan Avocado crashes out of Our Second Lyfe. The anomaly was just too strong.

roles

“Well, go ahead and read me my A B C’s or 1 2 3’s or whatever. We’ll head down to the station, then, and see who’s who and what’s not.”

“Break it off, Kevin,” spoke Jenny, out of her role as Heartsdale police officer Candy Candle Cane. Because she’s always on fire. “Big Black Smoke is out of room 03 again.”

“Uuhhh. I don’t care.”

“Shhhhh.”

You have to go back, Jack. Blue is Pink and Pink is Blue. They’re calling for you.”

“Then I will take your name with me to remember you by, um, Precious. Jack Blue I am from now on.”

“Ingratiate yourself with Green, Brown. They will guide you. Leave Olive alone,” she warned.

They switched places and he ate her cake too.

—–

“Jack Blue, huh? You don’t *look* like a Jack. You’re certainly blue, though.”

“And you’re Green,” Jack Blue quickly followed.

“Pink is dead.” SEAN “Green” Penn’s head hung low, remembering the day he heard like it was yesterday even though it was 5 years ago. Now he was in Little Rock, Arkansas but certainly with a bit of the (New Orleans) blues left. And now a Blue itself shows up. Himself, herself. Something.

“I know,” Jack Blue tries to console, also thinking about Brown. Plans gone awry! “Let’s turn our attention back to the map and the next step.”

Green wipes his eyes and tries to focus. It all comes into place eventually. The Big Picture.

to remember it by (Treasure Hill continuation)

“I keep looking out that window and thinking there’s someone sitting up on that giant live oak limb, staring at us. But it’s just that dark angel in the middle of the pond over there.”

“One hour ’til sunrise,” urges Eighty-seven beside her, formerly Eighty-eight.

“Match tonight — better try to get some sleep.” Eighty-six now.

Surely Wheeler will be alright on her own this *one* time, thinks rocking Baker Blinker back in Collagesity at her Gloomy Gus house. The 88’s will be with her.

But someone indeed has followed Wheeler to the wrestling arena in what use to be Morgan-Julia. And is manipulating time and space around her.

“One more piece then I’m done,” mutters Cpt. Americus, trying to polish off his bucket of chicken so he can think properly about another evil plot to hatch.

The stream rages on…

pretty Improvio

“Anyway, I thought I’d just pop over and tell you that your old house is up for rent. Better get back to the brood.”

“Wait, Gambler,” Greg Ogden implored. “Before you go, tell me more about this Core-Alena, how she got to Gaston, how she passed through Purdy here on the way.”

“I already told you,” Gambler projected. “She passed through centers and then she just uprooted herself and started walking from the original ‘Purd’ — this Purd*en*.”

“As opposed to Purdy here and also the Purdue University related sim. I get that. But why couldn’t she start walking, say, *here*?”

“You know that too,” came the reply. “Purden is actually the secret centre of Our Second Lyfe itself. Triple 128 — only one.”

“The…” Greg Ogden attempted, then let Gambler take over again, seeing the stumble.

“All the axes measure the same: height, depth, length. A, B, C: the great 3-n-1. But in Core-Alena’s case it is also the center of a 256x256x256 sim cube. It’s what makes her, well, *unique* unique.” Gambler was referring to the all important tree being as a she because that’s how she knew him-her in Gaston.

“But she’s not at this centre any longer,” continues Greg Ogden, chattier thanks to the (doped) coffee. He suddenly realizes this, and holds his mug out in offering mode. “Sure you won’t have any?” He was hoping to get the whole story today, whatever means. *Whatever* I mean here. Gambler was an old girlfriend over in Gaston for Greg Ogden, having met her shortly after changing from machine to man (but still keeping a lot of machine characteristics, like an obsession with symmetry). She came here to tell him about his old, empty house, yes, but there was more to it. He could feel this. Something about Purdy. He was a purdy man, true. He knew this — all the ladies end up, in the end, telling him so. Gaston changed him forever in this way. Sister Improvio too. Earie as well. He became Greg Ogden, Improvio became Pretty Man — wait. That’s *it*. Gambler, all along, was…

He could see through her disguise now. “Boy this coffee is good,” he declares, taking another draw from the toxic concoction.

—–

“We’re both purdy,” she ended. “Too similar to each other in our red and blue. We had to create Earie in the middle. Ear. Between the sun yellow legs.” She stared up at the brightest star in the sky, not looking away. The only star. The daylight one. All turned black.

trying to be “good”

Core-Alena had had enough. “This will *not* do,” she-he exclaimed, almost up to his-her gills in snow re-terraformed from “default” by the owners of the new house over there. Yes, more avatars have moved into Purden, further distancing the sim from the pristine forest it once was. Core-Alena decides he-she simply must become Mobile again.

Before changing over, she-he tests out the other “purd” sims.

Purdue University Calumet: not bad; a small forest of relative compatriots. He-she listens in on their chatty banter. The tree next to her-him complains of crowding. Time to move on, although he-she can revisit here.

Then Purdy was kind of interesting but not enough to linger. At least today. I want to be purdy, Core-Alena thinks after teleporting in. And so she-he will have that option… in a more human way, that is.

So that’s all the “purd” sims. His-her vertical travels have ended. Time for horizontal. Time to step out of the ground and into the air again.

First things first, she-he thinks upon changing over into the gun totting form he-she had last year. Kill the people in this house for causing her-him so much trouble.

Lucky for them they weren’t home. Core-Alena then moved on and forgot about his-her initial, cold blooded plan. She-he had bigger fish to kill fry. Purden Castle.

He-she ditched her-his weaponized self again halfway up the steep mountain. “More traction this way,” he-she purred, at one with the small engine.

The lust for killing went away with the transformation. Why am I here in the first place? she-he wondered neutrally at the top, just over the line in Cloudmont now. Dragon?

Inspired by the castle, he-she changed again. To a he. Apparently “purdy” will have to wait.

“12:37, dear. Time to go.”

—–

The Arkansas meeting, the restored Wheeler thinks just down from the Table Room with her one blue eye and one brown eye. It’s finally here. She wanted to cuss “Bellisaria” but held her tongue.

—–

“Wheeler,” The Man About Time explained….

… then shifted to the next “wheel” sim of Our Second Lyfe, the second of three.

“Wheelhouse,” he then pronounced. “Complete opposite side of continent, northern edge instead of what’s now the southern edge, at least currently. We must act fast!”

“Or else… what?” Baker Bloch queried. “The wheel is, er, *broken*?” No one had said hello to Wheeler. She’d arrived late and missed the similarly paired displays of sims Humansville and Edgar (on opposite sides of a Bellisarian “island”, with Edgar denoting Uncle Joe as TMAT explained), Decker and Deckard (only 2 “deck” sims currently in Our Second Lyfe, directly n. and s. of each other and with Decker next to Wheeler), and Squished Starfish and Squishy Squid (2 of 4 “squish” sims, and again directly n. and s. of each other, with the latter positioned just beneath Humansville this time; more reinforcement).

Baker Bloch unglued his monochromatic eyes from the picture and turned to the newcomer of the group. “Wheeler, you getting all this? Wheel… Wheeler. That means you are involved. *Directly*.”

“Yes,” The Man About Time sitting opposite him quickly followed.

“We have enough evidence already to determine that,” Baker added.

Wheeler decided to insert a joke here. “Game, erm, *over* then?”

Our Second Lyfe winked out.

‘666 Satan’, it’s called, Cathy A. One of my team researchers Scotty found it on a search for Dharmaraksa images, Google style — almost gave up for the night then checked one more time and found this. And, get this, turns out the main character of the series is named *Ruby*. *You’re* the 666th character of these Collagesity novels. Red Devil was here in this town as late as last week with his unknown establishment of Southern bias. Left a *sign* there: 66, which translates into the same (666).

“And I can *talk* to you without those blasted *hearing aids.* Everything points to you being Ruby yourself. Well, not *that* Ruby necessarily but *our* Ruby, the one that blew up *our* New Island at the age of exactly 15 1/2. Now keep that in mind when I read some notes Scotty sent me along with the (‘666 Satan’ texture).” Eraserhead Man pulls out a small notebook from his pocket. “Let’s see. Okay, this is from a combination of several sources. Alright: ‘Set in the near future, it tells the story of a teenage girl named Ruby Crescent who wants to become a treasure hunter.’ And then he goes on, um, ‘(She’s) a teenage girl of *15*’ — *our* Ruby’s 15 and a 1/2. Can’t get any more 15 than that.” Eraserhead Man flips a couple of pages in his notebook, then: “So there’s mention of a 4 year *timeskip*, just like New Island went though. Again: *our* New Island, not the one out in the middle of the Indian Ocean. This is Our Second Lyfe we’re talking about here. But — this is important too — *that* Ruby, the ‘666 Satan’ one, aged. Turned all voluptuous during those years. *Our* Ruby never changed. She remains, well,” and here Eraserhead Man cups his yellow cartoon hands underneath his breast region. “No real *b’s*. Apples in Preston Weston speak.”

“Hey, thanks a lot. I’ve got b’s.”

“Well I know you do, sweetie. But you’re naturally…”

“Petite,” Cathy A. finishes for Eraserhead Man. “Dainty? *Stunted*?”

All Hail the Pumpkin King?

Center. 128/128: Rhodenwald. Roads Rhoads Rhodes. LIVES (2nd and 1st). Black Man… Men. Central Pumpkin.

“Pipersville,” Hucka Doobie chipped in.

“Pipersville,” Baker Bloch reinforced from the corner.

“Tell us about yourself — Elvis wasn’t it?”

“Black,” added Elvis, because he was. “Well, I like books, no matter how dusty and boring. I’m a learned man. I enjoy truths over falsehoods. I don’t enjoy singing and dancing and womanizing as much as my white counterpart.” He turned the page, because he was reading and speaking at the same time. The word “white” had just been encountered. “That’s about all for now,” he said plainly.

Buster looked over at Bettie and raised his eyebrows. She knew what he was thinking and visa versa. This is Duncan again, playing some sort of trick on them. Or someone *through* Duncan playing a trick. But just because this was another black man…

Elvis Black changed. Duncan A. indeed.

“Do you know who I am yet?”

Rhodenwald

“The South was wrong, you know. Worshiping 2 dimensional cartoon people like Hatfield over 3 dimensional history and facts, no matter how dusty and boring.”

Bettie stopped swinging and looked over at still swinging Nancy, imagining a horn growing out the far side of her head for some reason. Then she attempted to synchronize with her again and soon they were side-by-side.

Bettie later brought the subject up to Buster, turning tiny herself in the meantime.

“I’m more focused on the sinks and Lemon vs. Lime.”

“Nancy says that’s related,” spoke Bettie across from him.

Buster sits up while looking in the distance. “Hold on. I think I see Duncan.”

But it was another Black Man. Duncan had been replaced.
