sameness

“4 *more* friends, MAT,” she says from her position of power. “What do you recall? What is dealt in the cards tonight?”

MAT studies the playing cards in front of him He sees a heart, he sees a spade. He sees a diamond and a club. He sees All Cards. He knows he is safe.

Actually he sees this…

“Tell me what are in the cards,” she requests again, hoping to keep him focused for at least 5 seconds, pheh.

—–

She said she had to run and turned him over to what she called the 2nd Moss, one with blonde hair instead of black.

They found themselves at an emerald green table (which brought out her eyes), away from the others. 1st Moss decided 2nd Moss might have better luck, and, besides, she needed to get back to her equations. Blonde Moss sipped her wine, watching Man About Time roll his neck round and round, trying to stretch it out. “You’re tired of typing tonight,” she gathered. The light in her eyes was equal to the first. They were one.

“Hold on a little longer,” she requested, understanding what needed to be done. Besides, The Comedy Club called.

—–

“Moss 03” arrived. Perfect!

Balance round the center. Alysha and Man About Time’s 1st date. His *Valentine*.

birthplace of TILE (‘nother one)

“Listen to these words,” Preacher Zoidboro commands from his pulpit of power, shuffling the first page back to the top. He’d been reading it all afternoon and then one evening and then another afternoon after a morning break for contemplation. It had been slipped under the door to his parsonage out back at 7:15 on Tuesday by the blackest of hands, as dark as licorice candy. “‘Four’s Company, parentheses, Three’s a Crowd, close parentheses,'” he starts, reading the title first of course. “‘Let’s make this,’ ahem, ‘shit happen.'”

Gasps from the audience, but not from the pronouncement of the word shit, deemed a cuss word in this here neck of the woods. They couldn’t hear that part the preacher said it so low. Instead: the inferred defamation of the Holy Trinity. It was in the name of the church! What in Hell’s Bells was the Preacher thinking, doing this? they thought as one.

“‘Let’s begin with a,’ uherm, ‘joke, quote unquote,'” he continues to read from Sepisexton’s text on the mount. Sweat beads on his forehead. Dare he go through with it? Alvin would be pleased, though. He always liked Alvin. “‘A Spade walks into a bar with a Heart,'” he ventures forward into a brave new world. “‘The audience says nothing.'”

The audience says nothing.

“I think I’m going to like it here back on this Nautilus continent, let’s see (he studies her), Lichen?”

“Call me Blondie,” she requests. “As in ditzy.” But he knew this wasn’t true. She was just a comedian. “Watch this,” she then said, waving her hand toward the grill. “Fire.”

“Nifty.” A witch too.

—–

“So Lichen is involved now. This must be 1942. But where’s Fern; Wendy? Is she…”

“Questions,” W warned, who may be Wendy herself. “Gambling boat,” she answers about Fern at least. “Dixie Belle. See you there.”

—–

“Well that looks like it, gentlemen. Last hand: I win the boat.”

“I don’t understand what happened,” shocked Jim A. Brown to her left managed to utter. “All I had all night was clubs and diamonds.”

“And…” sputtered similarly baffled Zach Black opposite him. “Me? Hearts…”

“… and spades,” Fern Stalin finishes for him. “Yes, yes, very peculiar. What are the odds.”

“Odds doesn’t begin to describe it,” says Zach, trying to figure out how he’d ever win his Jazz Attack band back from this, this… *witch*.

“Time to bring out the girl,” she then declares.

Jim A. Brown and Zach Black look across the Belle on the table at each other. “Lena?” They weren’t ready for this but what choice did they have?

“No no no no no, the other one. The red haired one. The one we’ve been studying… collectively. Wait… don’t tell me. Is she dead? Like Maebaleia (continent) to us now? Let’s go with the boy, then, the Indian. But not Asian. Half and half. Is he still in his pod, bubbling away? I need to see the studies Rose produced, all the figures. Bring them… *now*.”

Her rapid fire delivery left Jim A. Brown and Zach Black drained of blood as if they were dead. And perhaps they were. Gambling debts gone wrong sometimes end that way. At any rate, they disappear from the scene, leaving Fern confronting… I suppose this is Wells?

Missing

“Beckett?” she wondered.

“Paul.”

“No. The sim. Missing Beckett.”

“Oh. Correct.”

—–

“Muse is a key word here,” she mused aloud later, perhaps for me but also others listening in, the prescient, the psychic. Like our damaged friend Kolya. There he is. Listening in.

“Hi big boy. I’m over here now.”

“Missouri or Arkansas? I’m going with Arkansas because of the redness (of the book). But maybe…”

“Missouri instead,” I completed for him.

“Michigan?!” shouted George from the side.

—–

I knew there was only one way to find out. Purchase the monster book on the marketplace and then… open. Chapter 1 (potential): “Marble Falls, Marbles Fall”. A blue marble seems to have fallen out of the cover, leaving the monster with only one. But maybe the title is misleading.

“Chapter 1,” Alysha read later in the red book before her while she was sitting in the heart shaped chair, or a heart backed chair. Make sure it doesn’t turn into a spade, I thought for her.

—–

She was at the monkey. “Marble Falls, Marbles Fall”, she said again, staring at the reversed image, a shadow if it was beneath her feet. “A heart becomes a spade.” And so it begins.

pay Day, pay her now

“Let’s see, we’re looking for a bug green alien about 8 foot tall. I don’t think we’re going to miss her coming through unless they chopped her up, eh?”

“A little less with the wisecracks, Hal, and more with the observing. She could be all bent up in a smaller piece of luggage, we don’t know. We don’t know much about alien physiology. Do we Hal?”

“Um, guess not,” he replied, thinking, you’re not really my boss, Jill, you’re just an on-site supervisor. I don’t have to listen to you. In fact, I could report you for abusive language right here and now. Except you’re a woman and I’m a man — the chumps at the station would laugh me out of the airport if I tried to pull that one. Still…

“Hal,” she said, looking at his glazed eyes. “A little less with the daydreaming too, hmm?”

—–

“Okay, so I’ve actually been counting cards and… I’ve seen an extra heart being played.” Silence from the poker people around Andy, use to him being jovial and fun. No one except Otis had seen him in this light. But Otis didn’t mind, since it meant the *real* game was starting now. “The alien has left the station,” he imagined saying into a nonexistent talky device strapped to his wrist.

—–

Burt, coins already inserted, hits play on a song about two lips and how they are like one pink, smiling at Doris Lilly all the time, dining with her starter husband Jack. Like Otis, both are happy the gears have been set in motion.

From the track, Thelma Louise Day at the pool table knows what’s going on too, and that a substantial check would be coming up soon. All her hard work as a snitch at the office canteen finally paying off!

Standing directly above Hal, co-conspirator Howie Sprague dares to snap a photo of the valuable cargo leaving the bay, smuggled right out from under his eyes. Jill was spot on! Alien physiology is little understood, especially since the one in this game can change into *liquid*.

all together now

As Leslie Darlene continued to struggle with the water break, Ruby stared over at the girl who was always with her now, her Little Bug as she said she wanted to be called. “Cards are next,” she called over, stacking the last one on top.

The water was up to her wrists above her feet now. Aliens can have very different anatomies despite some surface similarities. Like two hearts.

flashback friday

Here’s a Sunklands blog post from June 2015, over 1/2 a year before the start of the first Collagesity photo-novel, that seems pretty relevant to new topics in the current one, 27 in a series of whatever. It concerns the name origin of Austra, initially found spelled out in large white letters in the middle of the Nautilus continent online map from early 2012 and which now comes in both Upper and Lower flavors. I plan to provide follow-up material about some playing cards along with a monkey in the same highlighted Austra (band) video but first things first. Enjoy!

MM 02

I checked out the name Austra and didn’t come up with much. Top of the list was this Canadian electronic band I hadn’t heard of before, but which is apparently quite popular now. I perused their videos and selected this one at random. It’s the official video for a track named “Lose It”, which turned out to be a single from their debut album “Feel it Break”.

47 second into the 4:39 long video this image flashed before my eyes.

astra_waterfall_from_lose_it

“Is that a Second Life waterfall?” I quickly asked myself. Turns out it was: googling “waterfall + “Second Life” instantly produced the following link and image from the Second Life Marketplace. In fact, I’m pretty sure I have this very waterfall, a freebie, in my current inventory.

Free Gift Freebie Realistic Waterfall copy/mody 12 prim ( for Cave Waterfall Grotto Landscaping )

*That* certainly seemed synchy since I’d already linked Austra and Second Life in a totally unrelated way. Note: the name AUSTR_A on the Nautilus continent map clearly comes from Austria, with the “i” dropped for a spell for some odd reason [see below]. Soon it would return; AUSTRIA restored. Perhaps now we can glimpse a psychic slant to this mistake. 🙂

I’m going to continue watching the video and read some analyses hopefully. Following a trail — more soon!

—–

4 months ago Apleeza wrote in the comments for that video:

“Those Second Life pictures in it. If you listen to the lyrics it actually looks like the song is about a guy she fell for in Second Life.”

Then someone quickly pointed out that the lead singer is a lesbian. There are some more rather quick flashes of Second Life in the video, but nothing I could wrap my brain around.

—–

One more item before I perhaps leave this topic. I’ll quote from wikipedia, and highlight the synchronizations:

“They [Austra] played a number of early shows under the name Private Life before learning that another band was already using the name; they subsequently named the band after Stelmanis’ middle name Austra, which is also the name of the goddess of light in Latvian mythology.[3] Austra used to include twin backing singers Sari and Romy Lightman of Tasseomancy. Keyboardist Ryan Wonsiak of Ze and the Boyfriends makes up the quartet.[2]”

The Lightman twins are also featured in the “Lose It” video. Private Life could be resonant with Second Life. I haven’t found out what the playing cards mean in conjunction with Second Life images within.

cowed

It was raining when he got back to Collagesity and it made his depression worse. He decided to go to Vivian Blue Hair, the new girl — or one of ’em — for advice. She was a fire scryer, using candles for the most part, like here. He asked what was foremost in his mind. “Which… one?”

Vivian could have been selfish and said she was the one, but almost immediately upon staring into the flame saw black and white patterns all around. She slips deeper into trance, closing her eyes. “I see two countries — or counties — one black and the other white, but both named Austra.”

“Austra, yes,” Phillip replies. “There’s a Lower and an Upper — everyone knows that–” Phillip stops here, understanding that Vivian Blue Hair arrived off continent just day before last week. She was a friend of… he can’t remember. Maybe Man About Time, wherever the heck he is these days. Phillip is already itching to leave his Collagesity but has nowhere left to go, he doesn’t think. Not after Wendy.

Vivian Blue Hair changed into someone else, chessboard patterns moved to the face. “A promise made, a promise lost.”

It was the cards (!), heart upside down being a spade.

Jeffrie Phillips wakes up from the rabbit hole as the lot of ’em fall to the chessboard floor in a disheveled mess, like roses. He’s received his clue.

“Charlene,” he says to the woman beside him, the usual one, but probably not *the* one. This also stirs her.

“Yes, Mr. Jeffrie Phillips, sir,” she dutifully and groggily recites, automatically reaching for his red tie hung on the bed post but then realizing it was still the middle of the night. She returns her hand to his bare chest.

“That new girl in town…”

“Right… see where *this* is going.” She yawns and looks at her nails.

“No, no, I don’t fancy her or anything.” Jeffrey Phillips definitely fancies her as he does most women, but that wasn’t the point here. “She has black hair, correct? Not blue or anything crazy like that.”

“First off, blue *isn’t* crazy. My Aunt Zelda had blue, red, and green in a row before her death in the early 80’s.”

“She lived that long, huh,” Jeffrey replied, starting to contemplate time and the colors that one can change into at the end. “But to my point…”

“In a certain light,” Charlene said in answer, “yes, it could be considered blue. But the light has to shine upon her hair in a very particular setting, I’ve noticed. Early morning or late day perhaps: hafta check.”

“So: blue.” Jeffrey decides to lay the cards on the table, this time in an orderly manner. “I dreamed about her just now.”

“I bet you did.”

“Not that kind of dream. A dream of this whole continent, which (he then realized) broke down into a series of black and white squares — *sims*.”

“Fascinating,” she deadpanned, and put on her babydoll and got up to get some water. “Want anything to drink or eat while I’m in the kitchen?” He watched her move away from him in a satisfying manner. Nice to have compensation when he returned home. Charlene is a swell mate as well as lover. He’ll keep her around for sure; a short leash. Strange way to think about it, he realized. I don’t *own* her. Or maybe… maybe I do in a way. I pay her bills, I give her a place to stay here at the Blue Feather (building). She was rummaging around the kitchen now. “Are you going to answer me?” she called, hoping he could hear her over the static this time. “I’ll get you something anyway.” More noises, and then about 5 minutes later she returned with some milk and a plate of choco chip cookies. She lay down beside him, put the plate on his partially bare belly, and picked up the top one for herself, studying it. “Cow chips, they’re called. Saw them advertised on TV. Big beaver holds one up in his paws.” She extends her arms here and holds the cookie between them like a small steering wheel toward the static filled TV on a table just beyond the bed. “Like this.” In the snow, she imagined the big beaver mirroring this back to her.

He studies her, then he follows her arms to the cookie, realizing what this meant. “That’s disgusting.” He picks one up himself using just the one arm. Oversized and heavy on choco chunks, he sees, but otherwise just an ordinary cookie.

—–

In another dream that night, the cookie Charlene holds expands and turns into a whirling vortex, sucking up everything in the room including his milk. “And so on the 5th day…” he heard her say beside him as they fell and fell, blobs of white and chunks of brown all around. The rabbit hole seemed endless this time.

“Hearts for you, Pansy,” said one of the Certain Deaths after dealing the card. All the rest dug spades; Grumpy never had a chance.
