“It probably started here,” stated Fern, showing the origin of the Boos. “In, let’s see, collage #13 — unlucky 13 in this case — of the Boos series. Boos came from Boos — Illinois that is.”

“That’s next to Indiana and its famous Dunes,” chipped in Harrison Ford Jett, eager for knowledge tonight.

“Correct. Anyway, the Boos come from the planet Mars. There was a failure — in Tungaske as we’ll keep calling it — to create a working, proper *sphere* by several of its artists, a joint effort. Sphere of Space if you will. An abnormality set in; in ways these are the two moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, terror and dread, explaining the faces. Rust probably represents Ida B. Wells from Rust College, who was a champion of freedom: diagonal (echoing some former talk they had concerning Bellisaria). The Boos ate the freedom, took it away from them. The Boos are the elitists, also explaining the white-wash color. They proceed horizontally beyond the edge and into the world itself. Evil has been let loose — again.”

“Who is the man in the water?” queried Harrison. He was a band member on the run, trying to get as far away from Bluebird as possible tonight, an ironically named character it seems. Bluebird of misery instead, misery and mystery in one. Mistery. So said Fern.

“Man on the fringe; man watching fringe, man *from* Fringe. Peter I believe. Watching the Boos do their evil doings, the Rust girl perched precariously on the rust colored cliffs — gone. He sticks, lets see, he (as the Spaceman) sticks his hand in a hole and it is gone — just below where the girl *use* to be. The missing hand symbolizes the missing girl, hmm. And missing pieces of Mars, moons.”

Harrison glances sideways. He’s eager to get to the next collage in the Boos series and be done with it. Boos attack! But… well, let’s just let Fern talk for herself.

“And here we are.” They spread out from each other, just as the Boos, black and white, spread out in the sky above Tungaske, (numbered buildings) ready for conquest.

C1718W fun facts 02

Hispanic-Irish clown Renaldo O’Donnell has now been killed at least 3 times in various Collagesity novels, specifically the locations of VHC City, Olde Lapara Towne, and now Capitol City (“to make it all work”).

The sacrificial alter he perishes on this time around has the same demonic entity pictured on it that existed within the infamous Purple Tower of VHC City, as seen in one of my 2013 blog posts. This seems to tie into the fact that O’Donnell was deemed an oo’d in the most recent novel. I’ll leave it at that.

Old Man Allen Martin, not seen since “Collagesity 2017 Middle” where he also died in the VHC City underground like O’Donnell, makes a cameo in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” as a ghost (“Clemscott”).

3 “bluebirds” appear in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”: an actual bluebird named Bluebell in “Brilliant Twin” (6th post of Part 2), the coffin of a pirate named Bluebird accented by a topping blue rose in “resting place 02” (9th post of Part 4), and then the Bluebird Cuddle Van of “illusions” (6th post of Part 6). Thank goodness “resting place 02” isn’t the 6th post of its part as well, else: 666. Then again, a 9 is but a 6 rotated on its axis. 😮

Another drink mentioned several times in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” is Brewmeister’s Quarterly, a strong German beer.

“Come to Mimosa” can be seen outside Duncan Avocado’s window in “Collagewold”.  Earlier, Mimosa is mentioned as actor Tom Casey’s home course (“Mimosa”). The author (me!) grew up next to a golf course called Mimosa Hills, where my mother actually made a hole-in-one on the par 3 17th, just like Tom’s character Casey One Hole repeatedly does.

“Jackie, Ona,” and, “the strangely cool yet confusing Sis brothers,” mentioned in “Beamers” refers to Jackie Onassis, originally Jackie Kennedy, wife of JFK.

An unresolved aspect of “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” is the nature of Tonya Two Egg’s arch nemesis JERRY. But I happen to know that this might be the same as Harry. More later on that perhaps…

A number of names and locations in “Collagesity2017-2018 Winter” are taken from real life US towns, such as Two Egg (Florida), Gene Autry (Oklahoma), Pine Ridge (Arkansas), and Opp (Alabama).

The General Tom Thumb story relayed by Broken Heart in “The End 01” is absolutely true.

Duncan Avocado’s mentioned companion Thimble, one of Sugar’s Berries (prostitutes), also ties in here, as the Thimble Islands of Connecticut are supposedly named for the local thimbleberries and have nothing to do with sewing thimbles.

The “lone star shaped swimming pool” touched upon in “the evolution of the couch” has a real life parallel in Hilltop Lakes, Texas.

Leona Lei and the Hilltoppers from the same post is another one of those after-the-fact “accidental” references to real life hillbilly musicians Nancy Lee and the Hilltoppers, known for their song “In a Little Red Barn”.

There are 2 trees named MOA in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”, but of vastly different sizes (“spots 02”/“What is it?” and “Well, we have a giant *beaver*. How’s that?”)

Anton of Anson is based on a real story. He could be there as I write this. 🙂

“Purple Gang of Black Lake District” in “Well, we have a giant *beaver*. How’s that?” is partially based upon the infamous Purple Gang that terrorized Michigan in the early 1900s, and are claimed to have visited Black Lake in the upper part of the state. This Purple Gang was also known as the Sugar House Gang, and sugar house is a term featured in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” and also “Collagesity 2017 Later”preceding it. The true relationship of Gaston’s two sugar houses remains unknown as of this writing.

The 4 names marked on the Nautilus City map seen in “pinpoint” are all subsequently visited by Junbug (“the evolution of the ring”/“I am Kelp.”)

In “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter,” we never learn the identity of the mystery figure walking behind the picket fence of “play with me”, but I can reveal to you here that it is Planters’ Mr. Peanut.

The same stylized map of Second Lyfe’s continents appears in “Anson Anton” and (in the center of a celestial globe) “continuation”.

In “the evolution of the ring”, character Roger Pine Ridge naturally finds himself seated in a Pine Ridge chair beside Junbug. More fate, as we can call it.

The poodle is perhaps the central image of Frank Zappa’s lyrical mythos, and Anorexia/Annie’s hatred of poodles mentioned in “gift” seems to stem from her former status as a Zappa groupie.

Historic population place Ferndale of Casey County, Kentucky had a strange variant name of Poodle Doo, still the name of a road in the area. Annie articulates her hatred of poodles to a man named Casey in that post.

We never learn much about Philip Strevor’s red book he always seems to carry around with him except that it predicts the future.

Philip’s sidekick Heidi Hunt Ives is seen with a blue book in “directions”, which changes covers three time during the course of the post.

Jacob I.’s attempts to reach Stonethwaite in the Lake District of England through Falmouth 36 (“Falmouth Visit Floor 3”) seems to remain unfulfilled in the story, adding it to his other “failures” he lists out in “The End 02”.

Hucka Doobie’s etheral home called The White Palace is cited in several other Collagesity novels before “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”, beginning with the original novel of the series (“Collagesity 2015-2016 Winter”). We never actually see this palace in the series, though.

Regarding some of Gaeta V’s mentioned sims in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”: Capitol City’s Babablacksheep, first mentioned in “HHI Again”, is really the sim of Babayagashut… Clemscott is actually the sim Danascott (Clemscott is another US map name). Comfrey is an actual name of a Gaeta V sim, although most of the action claimed to take place there in the novel is really from an estate island with a similar name.

Popular Collagesity character Karoz Blogger doesn’t appear in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”, making only the second time in the series this has happened (along with “Collagesity 2017 Middle”).

And that’s it for another installment of “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” fun facts! Hope you enjoyed it.

S. is for Soldier

Old Mabel had pulled in a suave chair from the patio of the Perch restaurant next door to become friendlier with Tin S. Man, who turned out to be a fount of knowledge once you got him to open up (heart exposed).

snapshot8564_008

“All those Lower Minoans were celebrating the chopping of what they thought was the forest’s last tree,” he continued, “a brown cypress which now stands proudly again right beside Unch. They were gathered in the center of Lucky at sunset, hooting and hollering and carrying on, when the suddenly descended 200th whopped down terror from the skies with his thick, deadly cluster of limbs and leaves. Everyone dead, like ants under heel. Whop, whop, whop!” he emphasized, holding his axe high, blade outward.

“Fascinating,” said Old Mabel, carefully watching the axe. “When did you yourself arrive in the forest?”

Tin S. Man lowered his weapon again. “After the East-West Agreement. This opened up Our Second Lyfe to the world where I am from.”

“Oz,” spoke Old Mabel.

“Yes,” agreed Tin S. Man. “I was an experienced tree chopper there — my original name is even Nick Chopper.” He sighed. “But it was all because of the love of a Munchkin maid that I met my sad fate. An arm there, a leg here, then finally my head, my heart. All gone. Nicked away by my formerly trusted axe, enchanted by the jealous, evil witch who was her ward. I was fully tin when the Intense Shower came upon me unexpectantly that one summer afternoon while I was chopping away in the deep woods, freezing me up for perhaps all time. Then finally, after a long long wait, another maiden arrived: Dorothy of Kansas, along with her friend Scarecrow and, later, the Cowardly Lion. They became my friends. My Intense Friends. They oiled me back to life. My heart pumped blood again. I became Dr. Blood.”

“But how did you get *here*?” Old Mabel repeated.

“When the Reverse World came, I chopped in reverse. Kcaw, kcaw, kcaw,” he attempted. “Reverse chopping sound there,” he said, and smiled. “I used this new found talent to restore the Rubi Woods. It was a very satisfying chore. I liked it much better than the opposite, or removing parts of the woods. I believe a word for this satisfaction is karma. But it was strange nonetheless. Have you ever walked in reverse, talked in reverse? You may know what I’m talking about, then.”

“I *think* I understand,” said Old Mabel. She thought back to Little and herself writing backwards to hide their actual intent to Winfield, like when they sneaked out of the Dawg Pound to explored the forbidden Sandusty camp one weekend. Boy did they get in trouble.

“I learned of the 200th — Unch — the day I reverse chopped the 199th back to life,” Tin S. Man went on. “That brown cypress,” he clarified. “I knew there were 200 trees instead of 199 then because Collagesity had returned, as emphasized by my new and good friend Homer S. Simpson. S. — like me. His S. doesn’t stand for Soldier, though.”

Old Mabel tried to keep the metal giant focused. “Did Dorothy send you to the Rubi Woods?”

“Ozma,” he corrected. “The queen ruler. But Dorothy, of course, agreed to the task. They are in agreement about almost everything. Except one time…” He cut himself off there, reversing direction. “No, I better not. I respect both of them so much. We all have our differences.” But his heart had suddenly lost some warmth.”

“Another pointed question, then, Tin S. Man — Dr. Blood now. Are you Ray Davies?”

“Yes,” he answered quickly. No hesitation like in former times. “I am also the 11th beyond the 10. ‘Dark Side of the Rainbow’ is ten, like me (tin). Dorothy then finds me in the woods; brings me back to life, along with her friends, now my friends. I am Dr. Blood.”

“Thanks for telling me this.”

“You’re welcome, young maiden. I salute you.” He stands and salutes.

Looming 02

“I fear it’s this place, Baker Bloch. Once you block things off and separate private from public, the collage elements start showing up.” She returns her attention to Curled Paper. “So your brother isn’t dead after all.”

“No mum,” came his reply.

“And what we just experienced was more hallucination than reality.”

“Careful with that type of language,” Baker advised again to Wheeler. “We’re *trying* to invoke halluciations. It’s the whole Bogota series we’re attempting to start up. You’re certainly a part of it, Wheeler. What with your David Bowie appearance and regalia. *Are* you David Bowie? Again??”

“I think so,” she replied. “Yes, I know so. I am David and David am I. But what of the darting hummingbird? My Hummie. It’s the work of Carrcasonnee. She’s attempting to dart me?”

“We could go to the Boos gallery and do some studying,” Baker offers.

“Do you think that would help?” Wheeler asks. “Well, okay. I wanted to walk around the town anyway. Review the changes for me as we stroll. Curled, hold down the fort. Do *not* let your brother in here again. And don’t dismember him again like you did before. You two are sickies.”

“Are we?” asked Curled Paper innocently.

“Yes,” she replied firmly. “Baker, are you ready? Is it colder out there? I’ll take my shawl if so.”

“I don’t think so, Wheeler,” Baker Bloch responded.

“I don’t want to freeze my ass off,” she says, getting up. “Apparently no one in town would like that.”

“We want to make you comfortable here for sure,” Baker said to Wheeler.

“Yup. That’s why I’m so powerful. Unblock the door.”

—–

Baker didn’t realize how close Boos was to Perch. Just a hop down and a couple more steps and you’re in.

snapshot9355_009

Will this help? We’ll see.

snapshot9355_017

“So where do we start in all this collage of confusion, Baker Bloch? I know it has some order. I’ve read the interpretation now. I know several relate to Second Life. See? There’s Collagesity, or at least the sky tunnels.” She points to Boos 05 ahead of her, titled “Simpsons Road Bloch”. “There’s not one but two Wheelers in that one, Baker Bloch. Explain. What’s with the Missouri Wheeler?”

“I think it’s you. You were there… in Missouri. Except it was just more collage.”

“Was it?” She studies not the Wheeler on the road but the Wheeler just off the road, more hidden but still obviously a brother to the one on the road.

“This is the two sides of me, public and private. Working theory. The public is on the road and visible to all. The triangle of Simpsons, like a rack of pool balls, act as a block. The private Wheeler stands beside the road. Already veered off the road. There is dialog going on between public and private. They are aware of each other’s presence.”

snapshot9355_011

“See? I told you this would help,” a reaffirming Baker says. “Two sides of you, yes. One on the road, one off. Blocked and unblocked. But are you Lisa (Simpson) as well?”

“Let’s just move around the gallery and see,” she replies.

snapshot9355_012

“Ahh, Davy Jones. *Davy Jones*. The bastard. That should’ve been me.”

“Are you not happy now with the Bowie name? It seems fate. Like your eyes.”

“Yes, my eyes as well. My name, my eyes. But what are he and Frank Zappa up to in this work, Baker Bloch? Spool tables? Army men? Peeping Bobs?”

“I think it spoke more of the Bigfoot art happening at the time,” Baker says. “And Head Trip. That’s one of yours now. The negative carrcass. Negative 7, I believe.”

“Yes, we’ll get to all those negative carrcasses in due time. Decide who of those old wankers we invite to the table. Obviously not Davy Jones. *That* Davy Jones. But maybe Zappa still. But that’s for a little later on. Let’s proceed since you don’t have any firm answers about that one.”

—–

snapshot9355_013

“A Wheeler again. Traveling around a wheel. I think. Is this me going ’round in circles? Front and back and side and side? Revolving around and around? I think it could be.”

“Yes,” Baker responds. “And maybe why Davy Jones seems to spin the spool table in the former collage.

snapshot9355_014

—–

“You need to get your finger looked at. I saw you attempt to shoot that (humming)bird a bird. You can’t hide collage from me. Not in my blue palace.”

snapshot9355_015

“Well, why don’t we just back up one more collage, then,” responds Baker, “because Baker Bloch’s hand is hidden in that one. My father was asking about that one as well recently. Last month, I believe.”

“First of last month, yes,” Wheeler answers with more detail.

“He asked me why I was holding that meteor. But I’m not holding it. It just appears so from the perspective. Actually its plummeting from the sky, aimed directly for Fitz the Mouse’s head. He looks up in terror. But it doesn’t kill him, despite replacing his head for a time.”

“That silly 12 Oz Mouse of Carrcassonnee’s,” Wheeler says. “Not solid entertainment like those in The Bill. Zappa knows.”

snapshot9355_016

“Okay. Then there’s The Martian to close out this floor. Boos 10. The one that blocked my father from seeing…”

“Me?” Wheeler suggests.

—–

“You know,” says Wheeler, back in the Table Room,” Karoz didn’t really go to Mars. Oh he brought back pictures, true, and he did go somewhere. But not apart from Second Life. One dead giveaway is the two Saturns in the sky. Two Saturns! Did that not arouse his suspicions?? But, anyway, it turns out one of the two is actually real and that’s the direction we need to take. We need to use that real Saturn’s gravity as a sling shot to deeper space and get to Muff-Bermingham. We can do it without the eye. But the trip will be risky. That’s why we’re sending redshirts.”

Baker looks over to Curled Paper, understanding why he’s here now.

“And the brother,” Wheeler adds, seeing what Baker is seeing.
