magnetic attraction

Young Ruby was the latest avatar to be sent through Eraserhead Man’s Rabbit Hole portal, direct orders of the new Queen of Collagesity who is Mabel. Get to *that* story a little bit. Being a natural explorer, Ruby’s interest was immediately piqued by two larger dunes to the northwest of EM’s property, just beyond where Annie famously painted her mate Karl as a smooth, bloated blue boy instead of his regular hairy, chubby self.

Ruby knew that naming had become important on New Island, thus considered the appellation of these two dunes carefully. That was one of her assigned responsibilities.

She stood there for about 15 minutes…

… while the sun rose to her east, casting the dunes in a rosy light. Rose 1 and Rose 2 they shall be, she determined, and then treats herself to a banana split float at nearby Bumpy’s Ice Cream Village as a reward for her naming success, the first of a good number she would apply to both the island’s physical and political geographies.

Later, another new character named Tin Tin would discover two roses in a New Island skybox and understand the synchronistic resonance. There was an important difference between the two dunes, just like there was for these roses.

One is more natural and one is less so. The digging would commence soon.

—–

Tonight Annie would refind these two roses for a better picture of them than Tin Tin’s but she’d have to fly beyond Mars to do so.

pining

“My blues cousin Opp is missing, Bill. I, of course, blame the reds and yellows.”

“Tell me about it,” affirms Wheeler who is now Bill — The Bill. “I’ve been shooting reds and yellows all day.”

“Good.”

“I’m bushed.”

“I bet.”

“But if you’ll excuse me, I must now get back to sewing the elephant.”

—–

Grassy Noll wondered what that was a euphemism for, but Bill meant it literally.

Clemscott

Pitch Darkly teleports into the centre of Clemscott. As he knew from previous visits, the owner of the sim had marked the spot with a grassy, oval lozenge. This Clem fellow. Clem Scott maybe. Smart like a Fox.

Merlin’s Mound dead ahead, as Pitch has dubbed it. Grassy green like the central object he stands upon. Extension?

What, if anything, is buried within?

This is a grassy avenue just beyond that interests Pitch greatly for reasons I won’t go into just yet.

The avenue extends along the north side of… well I’m just going to let the pictures basically tell the story.

According to these signs adorning the surrounding square shaped wall in all 4 of its corners, the fenced-in region of approx. 1024 meters (32 x 32 meters) holds what are apparently experimental building projects, with apologies given for the involved dust. You can actually buy the wall and attached signs for 50 lindens. Pitch is tempted…

Walled region.

Viewing platform?

Banana and apple.

Once again, Pitch realizes he’s not going to be able to figure it out tonight. He must move on. But not before noting this 32 meters long “measuring rod” extending well below the surface here. 32 meters is also the length of each side of the walled compound.

Walled region and “Merlin’s Mound”.

Pitch decides to quench his parched throat at a neighboring bar before continuing. “Bucket of blood,” he requests to the familiar bartender. “No nails.”

color row 02

“Giant Jiff,” Buster commands, “this morning we need to dismantle this block of houses and attached tiny village. Location change — other colorful houses used for the set, you see. Also: phone Bettie up and tell her we need to start preparing to get the heck out of Dodge. I have to take a shower.”

“Sure thing boss.”

“Shoot,” exclaims the overhearing sheriff down at Tiny Towne.

“Looks like you’re free to go Prisoner Pothead.”

Ratti

Wheeler Wilson was taking a break from playing pool with Buster Damm over in a Ratcliff speakeasy when she got the call.

“Clown part, eh? L$100 a week, huh? I’m there dude.”

“What’s cook’n?” asks Buster after she hung up. In answer, she threw one of her rats and an attached chunk of cheese at him.

Bee Careful

She stood there for 5 full minutes before The Musician looked up from the computer screen and spotted her. Nonplussed, he resumed researching the Muff-Bermingham planet while muttering through the window: “Very funny Painter. Now come in here.”

—–

The Painter soon realized she was not alone in this town, this world. There was also a Prenter Printer.

She waits for Bowie to come back but instead got Björk.

Stumped

snapshot8532_001

“See Hucka Doobie? There’s definitely a door there that wasn’t before. And watch when Tin S. Man stands up — go ahead and stand up please Mr., um, Man.”

snapshot8532_002

“He stands directly in front of the door,” Baker Bloch continues. “And the Kubrick lampshade is exactly the size of his cylindrical thigh.”

“Where does the door lead to?” Hucka Doobie asks.

“I’ll show you. Go ahead and sit down again Tin S. Man.” The giant does as requested. “Then I just open the door, see, and walk through.”

But Hucka Doobie notices Baker Bloch disappears slightly before he walks through the open doorway. And if Baker could have bothered to turn around at that point, he would have noticed Hucka Doobie disappearing from view as well.

snapshot8531_005

“Go ahead and walk through, Hucka Doobie,” Baker calls from the other side.

snapshot8531_007

“I’m here,” the bee-person says. “I made it.”

“It’s precisely aligned with this outdoor table,” Baker Bloch then says.

“Are the door and the table the same size?” Hucka Doobie asks.

“Not quite. Now let’s go upstairs and look at the other things. Oh, and there’s also Tin S. Man’s axe poking through over there. And a bit of his sitting stump. Keep that in mind.”

“Where?” Hucka Doobie asks.

“Behind the door from you. Here, let me shut it.”

snapshot8532_009

“Oh, right,” Hucka Doobie says, now seeing the objects. “Looks like [the axe handle] might be made from the same wood as the table.”

“Maybe. And you’ll notice the door has completely disappeared from this side when I shut it. We’ll have to walk around and back in.”

—–

“Go ahead and stand up again Tin S. Man,” Baker Bloch calls through the floor now as he reaches the corner of the room above him in the Blue Feather. In order to get to it, however, Baker had to drop down into the first floor from the second and take the teleporter up. Wheeler insists that these Lemony ways of traveling through the building remain in place. “Traditional — like Castle Jack,” she says, always with an unwavering voice. But no one seems to mind that much. You just have to go from first to third to get to second and The Table, unless you come in from Perch, which is tricky in itself. Most of the town believe and take faith in the Lemon past of Collagesity, before the coming of the Lindens. It’s one of the things that sets it apart from most artsy villages of its kind. The proximity to the Rubi Woods and its ancient growth helps in this respect.

Hucka Doobie caught up with Baker Bloch, but, once again, couldn’t see him in this corner, even though she heard him. But both saw the projecting funnel hat.
