And to think this was almost her home. She stands up after getting rid of slimly taller blue and slightly shorter red at once. This was not a vein and artery situation topped by topping gold and/or yellow. Plant is in the temple. *The* Plant. He touches Carrcassonnee and both (olive) green (entities) come to life. Fantastic! But what of her? Blue Berry Girl, or Blue Berry Wannabe Girl? Baker Bloch said he would stop by later after he made a decision. But the Baker Bloch that showed up was not himself but another. Another core. You could tell by the somewhat iridescent hat, I’ve heard. And so it is.

He emerged from the house instead. “Hi doll.” Oh boy.

—–

“Of course it was Axis in the house,” Baker Bloch said to fellow core avatar Hucka Doobie later. “He’s married to Wheeler after all — that still applies.” Hucka Doobie let him speak further. “His name is Blackey after all. Black like a swastika.” Careful, Hucka Doobie thinks but doesn’t say aloud. He was entering Constance Blueberry territory again with his consideration of dark against light. She looks into Baker Bloch’s eyes. Baker realizes he’s stumbling and bumbling once more. After all, Hucka herself was a strong black woman and not a Bee any longer. Or a man. She’d tied a bow on all that existence and stored it away for later study. Perhaps at Xmas.

“Aren’t you a little light to be a Blue Berry Girl?” Sandy quickly tried to backpedal the comment. “I mean, the *blue* and all.” He looked away from her crossed arms and her stare. He didn’t want to seem racist, but had stumbled into a big pile of awkwardness. Constance, sensing this, tried to lighten the mood.

“I knew what you meant.”

“I know you did, I know you did.” He was back to his confident self after the bumble. Should he ask her out on a date? Too soon? He thought again of his quest for the alchemical endpoint of All Blue, turned to All Orange for the purposes of this here blog. Started as a child when he saw the perfectly round, orange-like navel in a box. We covered that in photo-novel 10. And better make that a navel orange back in that sentence before last. In a fruit box.

“If you don’t want me, you can leave me.”

He leaned forward, switching gears. “Try the other one, Wheeler. If you don’t mind. She’s going to show up sooner than later. Best to test it out now.”

“I’ll do better than that,” Wheeler currently playing the role of Constance Blueberry said back to Baker Bloch currently playing the role of character-actor Sandy Beech.

So just for the record, here we have two core avatars interacting with each other so no need for that collaging effect I spoke about earlier. This is Baker Bloch, this is Wheeler. Not 2 characters of Baker Bloch or 2 characters of Wheeler, etc. On with the show…

Rocking Roger Pine Ridge was blunt. “Why would I want to leave, Baker Bloch? I have everything here. And now there’s (an Iris) mystery hole, as you guys put it. ”

“*You’re* one of us guys, too,” non-rocking Baker emphasized from the couch more away from the view.

“Maybe.”

“And, besides, I didn’t think you liked it here in this swamp village I think you termed it at one time.”

“Circumstances change. Look… you can see the Moth Temple just beyond that palm tree with a long draw. Can you see it?” He points forward.

Baker Bloch didn’t want distractions tonight. “Yeah, I see it,” he replies without attempting to see, trusting Roger Pine Ridge’s claim. It was a looonnng draw at almost 2 sims, he estimates, but probably reachable. He took RPR’s word for it.

“Oh,” began Roger Pine Ridge after a lingering gander at the beloved temple which he thought of as the center of His Second Lyfe as a whole, if it wasn’t now the *hole*. “The girls make a ruckus downstairs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes Sundays. Alternate Sundays I believe. But it’s only for a couple of hours in the afternoon and they clean up nicely.”

“You’re talking about Flip and Magika Bean,” Baker Bloch attempted to clarify. “The wrestling duo.”

“Yeah, who are actually Wheeler Wilson and Baker Blinker, I know. But they like their new names. And, like I said, they clean up…”

“Well,” Baker finished this time. “Better go. You think about what I said. Cassandra City might offer more possibilities than here. But then he dared to look out and extend his draw distance and suddenly doubted it. Yeah, the hole sealed the deal. Roger Pine Ridge, along with neighbor Grassy and Wheeler up more toward the temple itself might be here for good. He’d have to face that fact. Face the music of that fact. “Time,” or “Beach”. Depending on the way you flip it.

Iris-Beach 02

“Though I might find you in here Wheeler, er, Flip.”

“Flip it is.” She flips her hair lightly with this.

“How’s ‘Beach’? I hear you’re working directly with Roger Pine Ridge this time. Great! Like Stanley K. and Arthur C. on ‘2001’. How is Stanley K. anyhoot?”

“How would I know?” Wheeler/Flip returned flippantly. Maybe “innocently” would be a better word there.

“Oh… right. How come no one wants to work with me?”

The seriousness of the question after surreal nonsense surprised the new dooed girl, former ruler of Collagesity, present ruler of Iris and Heterocera as a whole, including the (diagonal) lines, the whole hand. She was still in charge over here. Maybe it was best to move away from the Rubi Woods. Perhaps it was cursed after all, just like Karl claimed. Poor Karl.

I say most of this to Wheeler in the pause. Unlike what Cyberpaperdoll could do, she turns to face me. “You don’t suspect who I am yet.”

“I have my suspicions,” countered bloodied Baker, presently an inept werewolf named Ditch Parkly to balance his similarly inept vampire Pitch Darkly.

“I’m from the future.”

“I might have guessed.”

Wheeler/Flip returned her attention to her drink. A bucket of blood hold the nails. She was just tempted to splatter it all over herself and become a match to Baker over there. Bartender Sammy Whatammy, brother to Tammy and perhaps Gammy (Nammy, Pammy?), had gone to the grocery store over on the piers — should be back any minute. Baker Bloch used the opportunity to probe a little further.

“Hucka Doobie and I think Collagesity may be a goner, *Flip*.”

“What do I care? It’s not my responsibility any longer.”

Another pause. Sammy returned with the needed supplies.

“Catvas I always smells of bird,” Bill complains. “And Catvas II of fish.”

“You smell of lion,” Grassy continued the grousing. “And I smell of, um, sodden earth? Haystacks?” He looks down at his white, sneakered feet. “Haven’t quite pinned it down.”

“We’ll get to Montana and then we’ll know.” Bill leaned in closer and lowered her voice. “Got any more of that wacky weed on ya? I brought some tweezers.”

“Then I’ve got the pony, hehe. We’ll figure out the rest later.”

“I dig!”

“I was surprised to find (The) Bill still living in Iris in that neat shack of hers with the great view of the Moth Temple. I thought she’d moved on long ago. But time traces have a way of lingering — if you’re alert to the situation. Which I try to be, bananas and other fruits be darned. Sox. I’m wondering about black and white again tonight, expanded into green and blue vs. red and yellow. Just like the Mmmmmm’s, poor bastards. I suppose Mmmmmm Grassy Noll is still around, maybe even Roger Pine Ridge. Yes, we must journey back back back to Iris, the “eye” of Heterocera. Just for a bit.

“I think we’ve about got it, Grassy!”

“Grass, please,” he reprimanded about his name once again.

Unlike before, they were working on the Flip side this time.

Dallows 02

“It’s gonna take a while for the (new) city over there to settle down and become stabilized. An active owner doesn’t really help as well. Unless…”

“… she becomes an ally for the cause,” Baker Bloch playing the role of Ditch Parkly finishes, but then adds: “Probably not going to happen.”

“Nah,” Wheeler quickly agrees to that last part.

After a pause, Baker spoke back to Wheeler while looking over his shoulder: “I wonder what we did to those BoShek castle people over there to piss them off?”

Wheeler sighs without directly answering this time. “Everything seems to be closing up for us in this Southwest location,” she states plainly, about ready to move on and forget all about this section of the continent. A refocusing on Urqhart or thereabouts seems a logical choice, given Collagesity is there now. Focus on who’s in *that* town and what they’re doing and what they’ve been up to. She pitches this to Baker/Ditch.

Diamond of a case

“I don’t guess I’ll ever go back, Wheeler. It’s all too *embarrassing*.”

“Oh snap *out* of it. Let’s get some pictures of these blue buggers and get outta here.”

And next time we travel together brush your *teeth* why don’t you!”

“What do you *mean* there’s no town over there, Wheeler?? There’s *got* to be a town over there. Or else I’m not *here*.” Baker Bloch was incredulous. He was *so* looking forward to playing the brand new role of bloodied werewolf Ditch Parkly, like Pitch Darkly but different.

“*Well*,” spoke over posing Wheeler, currently trying on different outfits for a new role herself, “there’s a new town sprouting where the old one was. Totally unrelated to the old one it seems. But it’s not finished at all. Maybe half built at best.” She reviews what she saw of it in her mind, and decides to amend. “Make that probably closer to 1/4th built.”

“Dang,” Baker shifts his heavy weight in his rocker. “Dag gonnit,” he cursingly doubles down on his frustration while softly pounding an armrest.

“Why don’t we hike those peaks over there so we can get a better look.” She glances over her shoulder out the window for Baker at the two summits juxtaposed with each other from her angle. Eclipsed, even, with just a whiff of the top of the second, more distant one peeking out from the first.

“Nah, I’m just going to give up on the Southwest right now,” he decides spur of the moment. “All the signs are here. We’re *both* blocked from that castle on the BoShek peak for some reason, along with Axis. What did we *do* up there that was *so* wrong?”

“Maybe just show up. We could send others from the core in,” Wheeler then suggested during another wardrobe change.

“Yeah — guess so.” His mind goes back to all the rest: Baker Blinker (recently taking on a new role herself in Jack Blue!), Karoz Blogger, Roger Pine Ridge, so on. Yeah, that could work. But *here*. Baker Bloch changes his mind about going to the peaks to view the emerging burg.

—–

“Still can’t see enough from this green peak, Wheeler. We’ll have to advance to the next one, the granite topped summit.” He makes a mental note to write down in his journal later: “Granite over green. The story of the continent itself.”

About 2/3rds the way up the much higher of the summits, Wheeler’s energy ran low enough that she had to switch back to her base outfit, her true or core self. Baker Bloch once again thinks this may be the exact spot to kill off the still dangerous Wheeler. With his own, bloodied hands he could do it. Watch the expression of her dying. But Axis would kill him in turn, he knew. He was playing chess on a three-dimensional board and he hardly knew what was up and down at any one moment. What is a peak, what is a sink? He actually liked hiking up a steep mountain like this. Gave him some solid direction.

“Come on, Wheeler,” he urged, letting the violent impulse pass, probably a byproduct of his current shape. “You’re falling behind again.”
