Which 03

“We’re going to try it again, Wilson.”

“Yes we are.”

That’s already been done. In the old, normal Collagesity. The one that was filmed. This one is different. We have to find out how.”

“Certainly.”

“I’m going to change things up a little bit. When you enter the bar now, Karoz will be sitting at the end with the computer game. Karoz may stabilize a volatile situation. He’s been there before. He likes Rhoda, Rhoda likes he.”

“Got it. Go up to the road. Scan west, scan east. Look at the cannon, then enter the bar.”

“Did you do all that in the correct order before?”

“Yes.” But Wilson then realized he was lying.

“Tell you what,” he said. “Go ahead and insert Karoz into the picture. I think it will work this time.”

On Old Cannon Road. He scans to the west.

“Sure.”

“Which one of us is which again?”

“Umm…”

Recovery

snapshot8282_005

Baker Bloch continues to sit with his father into the night.

snapshot8281_007

“Why’s that meteor attached to your hand for son?”

snapshot8281_012

“I can’t really see it from my angle. I see a *Wheeler.*” Baker Bloch waits for a response which never comes.

snapshot8282_010

Instead: “Open the other door. You’ll see.” Baker Bloch does as his father tells him and opens the other door to the Boos gallery.

snapshot8281_010

“Nope. Still can’t see. Back of collage in way. I still see Wheeler, though.” Baker Bloch doesn’t get a response again, despite the additional prompting.

“It’s the Boos collage. Not Boos as in booze. I’ve had enough of that for a while!”

“I know. Good you can yell again,” Baker returns. “Means you’re getting better.”

“I sure am. And… I think I’m finally ready. Help me to my feet. I’ve been sitting a long time. Let’s go see that new girlfriend of yours. My partner as well. Starbucanneer. What a gal!”

Baker Bloch agreed but was still thinking of something else.

Spaced Ghost

snapshot8282_001

“Oh no. Father!”

snapshot8281_001

snapshot8281_005

“Oh thank God. I thought you were dead. Father… get up. Are you okay? Nothing broken or sprained I hope.”

“No,” comes a weak answer. “I’m okay.”

“Then put the glass down and get up; that beer’s pretty much gone anyway. We need to take you back to, well, I guess to the bar. Father? Are you listening to me?”

“I hear you. Simmer down. I have a headache. I can hear my ears throbbing.”

“That’s because you have a hangover. What happened father? You never use to drink.”

“That’s what you get — oh me head! — when you suddenly own part of two bars. First one then the other. Horn of plenty.”

“Do you need some help?”

“No I can manage.” Space Ghost struggles to his feet.

“When did this thing get here?”

snapshot8282_002

“It’s the colonnade. Baker B. put it there a couple of days ago. Baker B. created the *bars* a couple of days ago. And Starbuccaneers. And Gallery Jack. And this big rock you slept under or whatever you did. And also now he’s bringing back you apparently. Back from the dead.”

“I’ve never been dead,” Space Ghost snaps back. “It’s just a stage name. Like Cary Granite.”

“Grant. Cary Grant,” Baker Bloch corrects.

“No, the *Flintstone’s* version. And now you’ve made me raise my voice and hurt my head again. My head, my ears…”

“My beer,” Baker Bloch finishes for his father as he takes the last sip. Carrcassonnee would be pleased. “Never mind that. Follow me. Into the bar.”

“No, I’m not going back in there for a while. Take me to Starbucanneers. Buy your old man a cup of strong coffee.”

“Okay.”

“And where’s my cane? Oh, never mind, it’s in my hand. I had to replace it with my beer. Now I’m finished my beer and… cane returned. I’m ready.” Space Ghost finally turns away from the colonnade, reattached cane in his right hand; empty beer glass detached from same.

snapshot8282_003

“What’s all the red buggers suddenly all over town? Place is infested with them, ow.” Space Ghost holds the side of his head with his free hand. “Darn headache. But I can make it up that hill, thank you. If I don’t trip over one of the red things on the way.” He starts to slowly climb the hill, and continues to complain. “Robots… back in the days we didn’t need machines to help us with our chores and such. We used our own arms and legs.” His son was now beside him, holding his arm and making sure he was stable.

“Out of my way Red.”

snapshot8281_006

“Can you make it up that step, father?”

Space Ghost sarcastically mimics his son: “Yes I can make it up that step.” Then Space Ghost tries but fails to make it up that step. He sits down on it instead.

snapshot8282_004

“How did it come to all this, son? How did I end up *here*?”

Star Back

*Those* things again, he thinks. How can they be this large?

snapshot8277_005

“Well Baker. Let’s go see your father and talk about getting married, hehe. Seriously, he’s probably sleeping off a binge behind some big rock. It’s Karoz all over again.” She shouts into the back. “Right Karoz?!”

Baker waits for a reply.

snapshot8277_008

Karoz is just shaking his head and staring. Spongeberg is totally gone man; Karoz sits in his seat.

snapshot8278_003ba

“Come back here Baker. You can bring Starbuccaneer with you but come back here. Sit with me.”

“Well Star. Shall we?”

“That’s not Karoz,” she replies, fear suddenly in her eyes. “I can feel it. Karoz is not here.”

“Of course he is,” Baker responds. “That’s Karoz Blogger, my old friend. You were *there* in Noru with us. He was president of Sam Parr State Collage. College I meant there.”

“Did you?” she replied. “Just like the old days, Baker Bloch. Always the jester. Until it’s too late.”

“Latte?”

“Come here Baker Bloch,” repeats Karoz, or who appears to be Karoz, Baker then thinks. Star looks straight ahead. “I can’t stop staring at him, Baker Bloch.”

“Let’s just go over and speak to him, even if he isn’t Karoz — maybe he’s still Spongeberg — and see what he wants to discuss. We can do that?”

“I’m not going over there,” Star says. “You go without me.” She disappears from view. Newton and Jasper move over from the counter to the top of the round display case, looking toward where she once was.

snapshot8277_009

“Jeez, are these things going to follow me around now wherever I go?” He turns to them. “Do you speak? Are. You. Animated?” But they were behind him now, sitting in the last booth.

snapshot8277_012b

“Are you going to come back and talk to me or not?” Karoz implores. Baker goes and sits down. He stares toward the booth in question. Nothing there.

“You better find those little rascals and delete them before you forget about it again,” suggests Karoz. “I can wait. I bet you can’t even find it or them.”

“I’ll find them.” It took Baker a minute, however. “Gotcha. Back to the inventory.”

“How did they get on Castle Jack is the question you should be asking. That’s impossible. They couldn’t be there. They’re like expanding salt and pepper shakers. Hold on… I believe that may have been your line.” He rustles some papers underneath the table while examining them.

“Never mind, Karoz. Never mind whose line is whose. Let’s improvise. Let’s go off the script.”

“We can’t do that,” replied Karoz. “We’re always on [the] script. We can’t improvise because we are following a path and can’t stray into the woods, into the wild, to be eaten like moles or voles.”

“Yeah, what *is* the difference between the two? And, to point, why did Starbuccaneer think you weren’t Karoz? You’re acting pretty much like I anticipate Karoz acting.”

Karoz laughs. “Accing,” he says.

Baker Bloch remembers that he’s highlighted Newton and Jasper but hasn’t deleted them yet. They he realizes he’s highlighted 275 more prims behind them as well. He quickly unhighlights everything. “Jesus Karoz, I almost deleted half the town trying to get rid of those two!”

“You *must* be careful. They do that.”

“I’m going to go top down on ’em. Hold on…” Baker Bloch is finally able to isolate and delete the two bad boys.

“So to *my* point. Stay away from [delete name]. Stay away from Nautilus in general. Stay home. World reversed.”

“You know I can’t do that. Baker through me.”

“I know. I just wanted you to know that I told you so.”

World reversed is okay, though. Perfection. The perfect thing sought. Like the red violin, the golden sphere[ of Carrcass-5].” Baker Bloch then quotes from the synch. “What if the thing you most wanted, just comes.”

“Don’t do that,” requests Karoz. “No, we must talk about TILE. Tonight was okay, but tomorrow is another day[ as they say]. TILE makes us strong at home. Here in Collagesity. Gormthoog and BoB are in the past practically speaking. Honeymoon over. Blinks and I are back and ready to kick town ass.”

“So are you Karoz or not?”

“I just wanted to tell you that I’m not your enemy. I am in the past myself. I am gone man gone too. But here I am. Telling you these things. You must worship TILE. Everything must focus on TILE. TILE. Baker Blinker already knows this and is adjusting.”

“Karoz — whoever you are —”

“You know who I am.”

“I’m not staying away from Nautilus.”

And so it went.

Star Black

Baker Bloch heads back over to Starbuccaneers to attempt to flirt again with Star herself, the namesake. Does she own the store? Did she buy his father’s house next door and turn it into not one but two bars, strange reflections of each other? What about the passageway behind the lower bar? It leads to blackness, like Star’s eyes turned black the other day. Baker Bloch went through, but he came out in the same town. It *appeared* like the same town. But Carrcassonnee said it would be different, somehow reversed. He has yet to figure it out what this means.

Baker Bloch has arrived. “Hi Star. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot the other day. I’d like to ask you on… a date. A date, Star. Can you animate yourself again, like you were in Collagesity Noru several years back? Hard to believe Collagesity itself is now close to 2 1/2 years old, eh? Star?”

snapshot8269_012

Baker then hears a conversation fade in from the back of the restaurant, like a dream coming into reality. He turns to see an animated Karoz talking to Spongeberg about something.

snapshot8269_016

He makes out words like dreamer and dancer and perpetual and world and Nautilus and box before Spongeberg seems to stop listening to Karoz rattle on and focuses his attention directly on Starbuccaneer. Or is he staring at *me*?

snapshot8270_001

When I turn back to Star again for more attempted flirting I find she’s become slightly invisible. As I stare she grows moreso, until about 50 percent of her is gone. The process appears to halt.

snapshot8277_002

“Do you want me to continue?” Spongeberg then says in my mind. “We need the prims. She’s a 7. We can get a whole dance pad in for a 7 spot.”

Spongeberg puts a series of images in my head.

snapshot8276_001

snapshot8276_003

snapshot8276_008

Baker sighs through me. “Take off her hat first,” he speaks back to Spongeberg with his own mind. “That’ll bring it down to 5.”

“That’s not enough. But okay.” The hat disappears. Starbuccaneer otherwise returns to ‘normal’. “Can I flirt with her now?” he asks Spongeberg. “Now that she’s dehatted?”

Starbuccaneer speaks up. “Of course you can Baker Bloch. And how’re *you* doing?”

She’s alive!

Stoned Talk

(joined in progress)

Carr.:

There are 3 major stones and 7 minor stones or just stones, unnamed and non-nomenclatured. One of the 3 major stones is called Major itself. This would be the one outside your father’s place. How’s Space Ghost holding up? Hopefully he’s not drinking again since he has that new bar and all. Is he?

BBloch:

I don’t think so. I haven’t seen him lately, actually. Might try to find him later tonight. And: He never drank.

Carr.:

Where is he sleeping? Since the whole house is now a bar.

BBloch:

Dunno.

Carr.:

Answer: There’s a portal in the back of the bar. Walk behind the bar, go down the passage. You’ll find a second Collagesity with a second set of objects. Different from the first. Backwards. Bass ackwards.

BBloch:

Hmmm. I’ll check that out Carrcassonnee.

Carr.:

Do that. Don’t forget. Any more on the stones?

BBloch (reviewing):

The 3 major stones: one is called Major Stone itself and that’s in front of my dad’s bar, next to the orange door…

(Carrcassonnee nods here?)

… then Big Stone just outside your gazebo here…

(nodding?)

… and then Hunger or Thick or Think Stone in front of the Collagesity Diner. What’s the relationship, especially of Hunger (etc.) and Big?

Carr.:

When you go to the parallel town you’ll find that out. You better go check.

(unjoined in progress)

The 3 “major stones” brightened for highlighting purposes.

Major Stone and Space Ghost’s new bar bars from Gallery Jack.

snapshot8273_003

“Is this the passageway behind the bar Carrcassonnee speaks of?” Turns out it’s not. Wrong bar.

snapshot8273_004

“Hey Furry Karl! Long time no see.” Karl doesn’t speak, and Baker continues. “Let’s see, Karl, I’ll have a, uh, let’s see, a, um, uh… a Heineken.” Baker Bloch waits for Karl’s response. “Hmm, still not animated, just like Starbuccaneer.”

snapshot8273_007

He admires the high view here before teleporting down to the second bar in the house. There’s Big Stone, he thinks. No, that’s the other stone. What was the name. Baked Stone? He suddenly can’t remember. Has he been gassed? Has the whole town been gassed? “Some view, eh Karl. Bet you’re enjoying that.” No answer.

snapshot8273_006

“And then there’s Rhoda. Hi Rhoda!” Baker Bloch is not surprised when the orbed being doesn’t reply.

snapshot8273_009

He still talks to him, however. “Rhoda, I understand there’s a passageway that leads to another dimension ’round here. I can’t find it. Any ideas?” Rhoda remains silent and still. “None?” Baker Bloch waits again. “Still none?”

snapshot8273_008

Baker then spies the rocks of Old Cannon Road projecting through the floor on the north side of the bar. He takes a closer look…

snapshot8273_011

… and finds the passageway. The Exit.

snapshot8273_013

snapshot8273_014
