00470412 (the great 100,000 book library in de skies)

“Lou, dearest,” he whispered over. “Buy your old man a can of soda while he’s busy studying will ya?”

“Sure thing Daddy. What’ll it be? Kolya? Pepi? Maybe even a bottle instead of a can?”

“Shhh, babydoll,” he said to her louder voice, finger over lips to reinforce his point. “Keep it down. Other people are studying here besides me.”

“And me — just sitting here twiddling my thumbs,” she responded in turn, tone not much softer than before. “Wishing there was an actual town again to visit while you read these old dusty things.” She became curious. “What’d you finding anyway? You mentioned a MOA or something or another.”

“Most Ancient One, yes,” he hissed, finger pressed against lips again. “Right underneath the library here, I’m speculating. That *whole town* you’re after. Files within!” Oh GOD. He shouted he was so excited. And now the whole rest of the library is staring. He waves at all of them, trying to indicate he’s sorry and that the outburst was just a slip-up.

Right through that Big Red Machine there it is, though. The secret passage. ‘Nother one.

He could walk through…

… and be in a different world altogether. And so it was.

“Ahh yes, thanks Lou,” he said after carefully popping the top and taking a sip. “Hits the spot.”

basement dwellers

Wrong side of the road.

—–

We watched from afar (right side of road). “This is where I got my butterflies,” she spoke over, hovering beside me. “You can have some too!” I didn’t need that kind of thing. I needed answers.

“Why are we here?” I cut to the chase. “Jeogeot, I mean. I thought Nautilus (continent) was our focus now. But as soon as we abandoned Collagesity it seems the energy drained away from it. So that would be novels 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 focused on that continent. But now…”

“You need to tell *this* tale because no one else will or can. Else… everything lost.”

Middletown, I assumed.

—–

I looked across the small Linden pool of water at the significant amount of land I could rent. I knew it was coming: the unleashing of MOA again. But not yet. Nautilus remains the one, the tentacled sphere locked away down in the castle’s dungeon. If head librarian Miss Ouri hadn’t already destroyed it. Will check as soon as I get back.

—–

No. Still there.

Oh. Hi me.

“It sits on grass — solid ground — instead of floor. There is a rainbow sphere like a giant illuminated marble in the middle, surrounded by frozen swarming tentacles. Rest vs. work, yin vs. yang.”

“Man About Time?” I speculated, knowing he waved at this thing like he did to himself before. Continuation.

“That and more,” agreed the other, yet to be determined. Maybe Wheeler with her green and blue asymmetrical eyes. Miss Ouri perhaps if they are matching instead. Feminine anyway. Female.

We should also determine if we are dreaming or awake. Could be difficult.

MORE SOON.

Listening through the walls and the coke machine is over. It’s time to find out who’s in the basement. Is it Rooster?

I think it must be Rooster. Smells like Rooster, even from this distance. We’ll see.

“Halt! (wheeze)”

It wasn’t Rooster. He backtracks a bit; forgets about the end of the tunnel for now.

“Who are you?” he asks mildly.

Squeaky voice, like a inflatable toy full of little holes: “I am (wheeze) the answer you seek.”

Significant pause as he takes the creature in. “Where’s Rooster?”

“He is (wheeze) not here yet.”

Smaller pause. “Will he ever be?”

“(wheeze) No.” Slowly and skillfully the seated small being then moves a chest pin down to emphasize his pricked nature.

“Funny,” is all MAT could think of to say.

“Is (wheeze) it?”

Voodoo doll, Man About Time mulled over. Obviously related to Kactus back in the library — up in the library, just above him in fact. He tries to see through the ceiling toward it. Doesn’t work.

“Ponder (wheeze wheeze) the nature of the peninsula, another (wheeze) sticky outy thing (wheeze wheeze). I am (wheeze) running out of (wheeze) air (WHEEEEeeeeezzzee).”

The final prick did him in. He shouldn’t have done it, MAT realized. Like Conception Concepción Conception, he’d made an error between his legs.

He moves on beyond the deflated being, encountering himself in the first of two cells off the passage.

“Hi me,” he said nonchalantly to himself.

Should he wave back? Or is that how you become trapped in the first place? Acknowledge that you’re here already? MAT decides to ignore him(self) and walks down to the final cell, the end of the journey that has become this post. Is he ready? After seeing himself down here, what choice does he have? No going back.

“What is it?” he asked, out of his cell and sneaking up from behind.”

“How–?”

“I think you should go back where you came,” the other requested, pointing down the passage over his shoulder while he finds himself waving at *it* for some reason. MOA he knew, but that was just another puzzle inside a riddle inside a cypher. The foul smell was starting to become overwhelming; not Rooster indeed. “Let me handle this now. I’ve been waiting for you after all.” STOP

big red machine

“Lou, be a dear and buy your old man a drink while he’s studying, would you?”

“Dad-dy,” Lou replied, arms still crossed. “We’ve been here *3* days.”

“Keep it down, keep it down,” father Osborne Well says over more in a whisper. “Other people are here too.”

Lou Well stays quiet this time.

“Weelll?” her father prompted, a typical reply and a play on their last name he loves to utter when he can. He beams a wicked smile. She still doesn’t return the smile but rises from her chair with a small huff and does what he asks. She inserts a quarter, hears a bottle drop. Or is it a can? — she can’t tell if the sound is more glassy or metallic. Queer, she realizes. And — great — she can’t get the door to open at the bottom of the thing. “It’s broke, daddy. We’ll have to go into town for your sody pop.” *Finally*, a possible way out of this prison of books for her.

“Then leave it,” he decides, learning winning over thirst and sugary desire. He’s about to uncover the deepest, darkest secrets of the great tentacled one. He confers this to his daughter.

“MOA,” she replies without thinking. “We’ve been there already. We *know* what it is.”

“Shhh,” he reprimands again about her raised voice, but then realizes she’s right. It *is* MOA he’s searching for: Most Old Ancient.

Man About Time wakes up but remembers what they said behind the wall. He’ll return another night in another dream to this spot. This portal is *key*.

C1718W fun facts 02

Hispanic-Irish clown Renaldo O’Donnell has now been killed at least 3 times in various Collagesity novels, specifically the locations of VHC City, Olde Lapara Towne, and now Capitol City (“to make it all work”).

The sacrificial alter he perishes on this time around has the same demonic entity pictured on it that existed within the infamous Purple Tower of VHC City, as seen in one of my 2013 blog posts. This seems to tie into the fact that O’Donnell was deemed an oo’d in the most recent novel. I’ll leave it at that.

Old Man Allen Martin, not seen since “Collagesity 2017 Middle” where he also died in the VHC City underground like O’Donnell, makes a cameo in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” as a ghost (“Clemscott”).

3 “bluebirds” appear in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”: an actual bluebird named Bluebell in “Brilliant Twin” (6th post of Part 2), the coffin of a pirate named Bluebird accented by a topping blue rose in “resting place 02” (9th post of Part 4), and then the Bluebird Cuddle Van of “illusions” (6th post of Part 6). Thank goodness “resting place 02” isn’t the 6th post of its part as well, else: 666. Then again, a 9 is but a 6 rotated on its axis. 😮

Another drink mentioned several times in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” is Brewmeister’s Quarterly, a strong German beer.

“Come to Mimosa” can be seen outside Duncan Avocado’s window in “Collagewold”.  Earlier, Mimosa is mentioned as actor Tom Casey’s home course (“Mimosa”). The author (me!) grew up next to a golf course called Mimosa Hills, where my mother actually made a hole-in-one on the par 3 17th, just like Tom’s character Casey One Hole repeatedly does.

“Jackie, Ona,” and, “the strangely cool yet confusing Sis brothers,” mentioned in “Beamers” refers to Jackie Onassis, originally Jackie Kennedy, wife of JFK.

An unresolved aspect of “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” is the nature of Tonya Two Egg’s arch nemesis JERRY. But I happen to know that this might be the same as Harry. More later on that perhaps…

A number of names and locations in “Collagesity2017-2018 Winter” are taken from real life US towns, such as Two Egg (Florida), Gene Autry (Oklahoma), Pine Ridge (Arkansas), and Opp (Alabama).

The General Tom Thumb story relayed by Broken Heart in “The End 01” is absolutely true.

Duncan Avocado’s mentioned companion Thimble, one of Sugar’s Berries (prostitutes), also ties in here, as the Thimble Islands of Connecticut are supposedly named for the local thimbleberries and have nothing to do with sewing thimbles.

The “lone star shaped swimming pool” touched upon in “the evolution of the couch” has a real life parallel in Hilltop Lakes, Texas.

Leona Lei and the Hilltoppers from the same post is another one of those after-the-fact “accidental” references to real life hillbilly musicians Nancy Lee and the Hilltoppers, known for their song “In a Little Red Barn”.

There are 2 trees named MOA in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”, but of vastly different sizes (“spots 02”/“What is it?” and “Well, we have a giant *beaver*. How’s that?”)

Anton of Anson is based on a real story. He could be there as I write this. 🙂

“Purple Gang of Black Lake District” in “Well, we have a giant *beaver*. How’s that?” is partially based upon the infamous Purple Gang that terrorized Michigan in the early 1900s, and are claimed to have visited Black Lake in the upper part of the state. This Purple Gang was also known as the Sugar House Gang, and sugar house is a term featured in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” and also “Collagesity 2017 Later”preceding it. The true relationship of Gaston’s two sugar houses remains unknown as of this writing.

The 4 names marked on the Nautilus City map seen in “pinpoint” are all subsequently visited by Junbug (“the evolution of the ring”/“I am Kelp.”)

In “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter,” we never learn the identity of the mystery figure walking behind the picket fence of “play with me”, but I can reveal to you here that it is Planters’ Mr. Peanut.

The same stylized map of Second Lyfe’s continents appears in “Anson Anton” and (in the center of a celestial globe) “continuation”.

In “the evolution of the ring”, character Roger Pine Ridge naturally finds himself seated in a Pine Ridge chair beside Junbug. More fate, as we can call it.

The poodle is perhaps the central image of Frank Zappa’s lyrical mythos, and Anorexia/Annie’s hatred of poodles mentioned in “gift” seems to stem from her former status as a Zappa groupie.

Historic population place Ferndale of Casey County, Kentucky had a strange variant name of Poodle Doo, still the name of a road in the area. Annie articulates her hatred of poodles to a man named Casey in that post.

We never learn much about Philip Strevor’s red book he always seems to carry around with him except that it predicts the future.

Philip’s sidekick Heidi Hunt Ives is seen with a blue book in “directions”, which changes covers three time during the course of the post.

Jacob I.’s attempts to reach Stonethwaite in the Lake District of England through Falmouth 36 (“Falmouth Visit Floor 3”) seems to remain unfulfilled in the story, adding it to his other “failures” he lists out in “The End 02”.

Hucka Doobie’s etheral home called The White Palace is cited in several other Collagesity novels before “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”, beginning with the original novel of the series (“Collagesity 2015-2016 Winter”). We never actually see this palace in the series, though.

Regarding some of Gaeta V’s mentioned sims in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”: Capitol City’s Babablacksheep, first mentioned in “HHI Again”, is really the sim of Babayagashut… Clemscott is actually the sim Danascott (Clemscott is another US map name). Comfrey is an actual name of a Gaeta V sim, although most of the action claimed to take place there in the novel is really from an estate island with a similar name.

Popular Collagesity character Karoz Blogger doesn’t appear in “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter”, making only the second time in the series this has happened (along with “Collagesity 2017 Middle”).

And that’s it for another installment of “Collagesity 2017-2018 Winter” fun facts! Hope you enjoyed it.

“Well, we have a giant *beaver*. How’s that?”

Marion Harding openly admitted to having a thing about trees. Here we see him climbing up the ladder into a treehouse he’s fancied recently. The owners of the main house on the property were never around, it seemed. And there was a gas station nearby which provided a small bathroom and also a bed for his more basic needs. Then there was the nice view of *the* tree.

Most Old Ancient (MOA)  was the most impressive thing in Capitol City to Marion. “Nothing like this in your South Yankton,” he told Philip Strevor the other day while petting its massive trunk. This is Gaeta V, *not* GTA V. And while bland and boring overall yes, there are still advantages.” He started to mention Heidi as well, but didn’t want to get Philip thinking along those lines again — about “retirement” in this Muff-Bermingham run by that tall, pale dame he’s described. The heist should be the main focus now. That’s what they were meeting about at the tree’s base. For even Philip knew the huge old growth had authentic power. Power to expose and power to hide. Whatever was in the hearts of men at the moment. And, through knowledge gleaned from his wacky weed and attached fantasy friends, Marion understood how to harness it.

They’d left the kid at the playground in the snowier part of town. George was looking after her. George swears up and down that he’s 13 and not the 10 or so he appears to be. And, anyway, both Marion and Philip knew that Heidi Hunt Ives could take care of herself for sure. It’s just the *impression* of caretakers they were after. Part of the cover.

Anson. He’d received the name from The Oracle that is The Tree. An auto, a *bug*, stolen and then stolen again. Formerly buried in the sand at the wrecked ship just north of Fae’s Boat House by Tom the Booker — Tom Booker — now deceased and buried himself somewhere in the eastern reaches of Corsica Prime. Car thieving was his livelihood. But this theft was special. Because there was something stashed in the exhaust system he didn’t know about. A 50,000 linden reward issued by the Purple Gang of the Black Lake District alerted him to the situation. Then the kid plugged her own ultra valuable information into the equation. This is *the bug* she stated more than once she was working on, beyond the old and middle aged women, beyond even the poodle. Not an insect, but at the same time, yes an insect, she cryptically claimed. A philosopher’s stone she termed it for him.

This is why he decided to bring her into their fold in the first place. The bug. And she claimed to have the power to know exactly where it was at any one time. And it would continue to get stolen, again and again. The money would keep roll’n in.

thorny situation

The Musician as Sikul Himakt was having that dream about roses again. Scene: VHC City; The Diagonal.

He sits in front of a video game featuring the Rising Sun with an odd retro cartoon punk who speaks Japanese.

In the dream he understands him. “There’s no side to choose,” he says as the game remains unplayed. Tiny Hermania looks down from the center of her rose tinted world, protesting the idea. “Choose!” she calls while hanging from a vine.

He grasps the red joystick opposite the green one. Pain! They were at the island tree, then. The Musician once again shows the cartoon punk the wound on his outturned hand.

The other hand he keeps to himself.

“I will remove the thorn and make this one better too,” he says, still speaking somehow understandable Japanese. The Musician starts to wake up. “I will make this better.”

—–

He stares up at Chroma Jimmy, who is wrapping his left hand. The right one has already been bandaged. He sits on the Asian couch at their lodgings. Jimmy chatters while continuing his twirlings. “As I said, I’m a physicist not a physician. But I worked with a man at the Australian Astronomical Observatory who studied stellar anomalies in the Southern Cross for years. Same thing happened to his hands, and also his side. Stigmata it’s called. Identification with the crucified Christ.” The Musician was about to protest that he wasn’t religious when Jimmy guessed the confusion. “Doesn’t matter about your faith. Something else is behind it. Philip wasn’t religious either, but he was a fanatic. Of science. Perhaps that’s all it takes. And… there, that should do it. The bleeding doesn’t seem to be stopping but it’s slowed down. Maybe that’s all we can ask of this condition, if yours tracks with Philip’s.”

“And stay away from that blasted island!” added Wheeler forcefully behind him.

What is it?

“I simply don’t remember this, um, display Musician.”

“It was here, Wheeler. It’s the same cave, after all.”

“I’m not so sure.”

“It’s the same,” exclaims The Musician again while now clinging to a thorny rose vine.

“It’s the same.”

Around the corner, Lou and Osborne Well titter.
