catchup

“It all seems to be focusing on Heterocera, Baker Bloch. Me in the swamp lands — I would *prefer * to live here in Collagesity, but it is what it is. Then Wheeler’s own explorations.”

“She’s found a gym.”

“Gem of a gym,” replies Roger Pine Ridge, puffing on a Chesterfield tonight. The rainbow brings confusion but white light heals. White stick light. “That might keep her busy for a while.”

“Then Grassy… what’s the report on him?”

“Good and decent fellow, obviously. We’ll (re)visit Iris soon.”

“The Moth Temple Village. Good. Which you live on the very outskirts of anyway.”

“He’s still looking for the reds and yellows. Probably to shoot or kill them.”

“Wheeler can help in that way,” Baker then says. “And his cousin?”

“He hasn’t spoken of Opp since my move. He goes on and on about the TILE river or creek or whatever it is. Jonesborough Compound: he says that’s where it all started. Cave of the Alphabet. The eternal search for AlmaNoz.”

“Good topic,” replies Baker. “Karoz: Did he find his ‘N’ yet?”

But Roger Pine Ridge didn’t know neither. Better bring in another.

—–

“Karoz… we’re just reviewing what’s going on in the novel so far. How’s Dennis? Is that where you still are? Lemme check.”

—–

“Why don’t you put up a meaningful picture on your media feed here. For the blog.”

“Any suggestions?”

“Dennis.” Pause. “Where I’m not.”

“Well maybe we should go there to meet instead.”

Karoz Blogger looked around. “Where’s Wheeler tonight? This isn’t an official Table meeting without Wheeler.”

“She found a gym,” Baker Bloch explained again to a second core avatar tonight.

“Guess Tropp or Opp is with her, then.”

“Guess so.”

“Well… good.” Karoz looks down at his hands, then back up. “It failed of course. The assimilation. Baker Blinker has gone back to Chilbo. I suppose I’ll have to follow.”

“Well… for one shining moment…”

“Yeah, yeah,” interrupted the cyan being, half moss as we know now. The other half remains hidden in mist still. Baker then had an idea.

“How’s Misty doing?”

“Who?”

—–

“He didn’t know who Misty was, Hucka Doobie. I tried.”

“You think that’s his *mother*?”

—–

“Let’s review what we know, Hucka Doobie. We know that everything seems to be focusing on Heterocera, which is now equated with a big hand.”

“An *upside-down* hand,” Hucka Doobie clarified. “The Hand of Opp.”

“Right. There’s now a Heart Line to go along with the Head Line, which I didn’t know was a Head Line until I found the Heart.”

“Art’s on the Heart.”

“Right. Former neighbor. Like Veyot. On the edge. Just digging the Collagesity vibe.”

“It does have a good vibe,” articulated Hucka Doobie. “But now it only has the woods. Art will be the last neighbor you will have in Our Second Lyfe. Unless you count Ruby Heartbright.”

“I’m checking now, Hucka Doobie.” Pause of about 30 seconds while Baker Bloch remotely scans the borders of Collagesity. “Yes, I see she is the only landowner whose property borders Collagesity. But: no relation to the Rubi Woods to the west?”

“There has to be,” Hucka Doobie says without hesitation. “You know this person after all.”

Met her once. She’s owned land around the woods before. Just like me. I can’t remember specifics.”

Hucka Doobie thinks that Baker Bloch should write down information like this but doesn’t say it aloud. “And fair Ruby herself? Haven’t seen her around since I rode back into town on a horse with no name.”

“We’re talking about my character, also named Ruby,” Baker clarifies more for the reader. “She seems to have taken the lead female role from everyone else except for Wheeler. But of course now we know Ruby *is* Wheeler. Because of all the splits she’s effected.”

“Ruby Fantasie most recently. You should follow what’s she’s up to in Rosehaven. Shaking things up, I bet.”

“Three ‘Rubys’, then. The neighbor, the woods, the… can we call her queen? Is Wheeler still queen? Heck we better bring her in. Thanks for stopping by, Hucka.”

“Back to the Red Umbrella for me. I found a way into Stonethwaite.”

“You did?”

“But a topic for another night.”

“So long, then.”

—–

“Put up the Aotearoa picture on the interwebs, Baker Bloch. I can’t seem to work the darn thing again tonight.”

“I’ll make a quick post with the 2 pictures.” Pause of about 2 minutes while Baker sets up the post. He displays it…

“Top hit for an image search ‘N to Z’, Wheeler Wilson. Transparent images, that is.”

“Which you like to do now as I understand.”

“This is AlmaNoz related. Jeogeorock related. Whitehead Crossing. Spill what you know.”

“I’m not really the person (core avatar) for that. Spongeberg,” Wheeler declared. “Spongeberg’s the one. He lives there after all.”

“I forgot. In the teepee.” He removes his finger from his lip. “Well, we might have time to bring him in after this. Friday night after all. A little more time; a little less pressure to get up.”

“During the day, you have to figure out something else to do. I’m *enjoying* the day. But… this can’t keep up.” Wheeler looks at him directly. “Thank you, though, for allowing me time to find my gym. That was helpful. Tropp is thankful too. We are not evil.”

“I know that.”

“We are another aspect of Heterocera now, part of its continuing storylines. Three ‘Rubys’. Collagesity moves onward and upward within that triangle. Scarlet.”

prisoner of the moment

This portion of the Baker Blinker Blog is brought to you by 3B Productions, maker of the fine None of your Bee’s Wax© global media events.

Black people. Just like me. But then: “Whiteyes”. Ice Cream Eyes?

She looks at the watch that she’s not wearing. Time to meet Grassy over at the Blue Feather Table Room.

—–

Hucka Doobie kept staring at the map and adding information. “Karon above Lapara, Grassy. And Cadiz is nearby too.”

“A ‘Z’ is kind of an ‘N’ turned on its side,” offered his old friend sitting beside him. His old *nemesis*. But that was long, long ago and far, far away. In a different universe, really.

“You’re right Grassy Noll!” She rotates it in his mind. “Karoz’s ‘N’ must have been turned into a ‘Z’. It’s not lost, merely sideways!”

“Visa versa.”

“What’s that?”

“Visa versa,” Grassy repeated. “Reverse the ‘N’ with the ‘Z’.”

“Oops! Holding hands again. You have to watch that.”

“Sorry. Accidental.”

“So how do you like it? Great view down Old Cannon Road into the woods. You can probably watch Baker Blinker’s comings and goings. Make sure she’s not cheating on you, hehe.”

“She wouldn’t.”

“Wouldn’t she?” You are, she thought to herself. 1/2 and 1/2.

“I like the apartment just fine.”

“Why — can’t you and Baker Blinker just live together. What’s this thing about the 2 separate places?”

“You know why.”

“I really don’t,” spoke Wheeler. “You had your one shining moment together. You should be happy now. Don’t mantis’ just make love once a year anyways? Aren’t you part mantis?” she teased again.

“You know I’m not.”

“Karoz, though. That’s Zorak backwards. And Zorak is a mantis. Space Ghost’s sidekick. That’s Baker Bloch’s father.”

“I know who Space Ghost is.”

“Where *is* Space Ghost? Oh, I guess I should be asking Baker Bloch that question. But *your* father. What’s all this b.s. about being Gene Fade’s son? Gene Fade doesn’t exist. Does he?” Wheeler was becoming curious again; doubts about his nonexistence creeping in once more. Karoz *was* here. He *could* be part moss. Probably more likely than being part mantis. And his mother — she must get more of the story about his mother. Both of ’em.

Baysity

“So. This is your portal.”

“I come down here to Dennis, I get cleaned up, um hum.”

“Err, you mean you get cleaned up and then you come down here to Dennis.” Baker Bloch remembered that Wheeler had said something was wrong with Tropp — True Opp. Maybe it’s that he gets everything backwards. He decides to test.

“So, Wilson Wheeler is your best mate down here.”

“Wheeler Wilson, yes.”

Aha! Baker thought.

—–

“I left him over there dancing. He seems to try to dance his way into a different form. Axis.”

“I’ve heard of him. Rules The Waste, among other places. Rosehaven even, perhaps.”

“We can’t get rid of him.”

“I know.”

“We tried. Same with Wheeler.”

“True enough.” Karoz leaned forward. “You know I have a different user than you.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay. Come clean with it.” Baker Bloch knew, but he wanted to hear Karoz speak the name.

“Gene Fade.” Baker Bloch nods, trying to look a little shocked. “And the same goes for Tropp — Opp.”

“Gene Fade is Tropp’s user as well.” Baker kept his mouth open.

“But Tropp is the same as Bracket, originally king of the Comma Islands.”

“And, I’m guessing, Mmmmmm Grassy Noll is a Gene Fade avatar as well.”

“Could be.” Karoz continues his own story. “I was designed to safely walk the uber sacred peak of Grandaddy Mountain without damaging precious and sometimes rare plants. No animal interaction either. But I forsook this destiny and became enmeshed in Second Lyfe. Our Second Lyfe.”

“Chilbo.”

“Noru, actually. Norum.”

“Right.”

“Norum was stronger than Chilbo — Chilbol — in the early days. Before the deforestation.”

“Right. Plants talk. Plants aid. Look at Collagesity now. The only thing keeping it living and breathing is the Rubi Woods.”

“Correct.” He continues onward with more “revelations”. “Gene Fade is my father. Father *and* user.”

“I still…”

“Grassy too. Gene created Grassy from his own genes.”

“‘Fade to Moss,’ Baker proffers. “The production tells all of this.”

“But not in this dimension. Not yet. Gene wanted to go beyond his days as Grassy Noll’s sidekick in all those Salad Bar Jack action-adventure movies. He was quite famous, but only through Grassy. ‘Fade to Moss’, an autobiography that wasn’t an autobiography, was suppose to propel him into a different circle, a different level.”

“Didn’t work.”

“No.”

AlmaNoz

“I will come back,” spoke Karoz at the Table again. “But we must start to focus on TILE once more. Occident. I am a high TILE priest after all. And: bite it Wheeler.”

But Wheeler Wilson was still holding and using the cell phone. “I can’t seem to get a hold of Hucka Doobie, Karoz. Could she be… dead?”

“Doubtful. She’s in Gaston. Right?”

“Yes,” Baker Bloch answers for Wheeler.

Wheeler finally gives up on reaching Hucka Doobie for the night; puts away the phone. She crosses her legs and leans toward the blue-green being. “Okay, Karoz. Tell us all about TILE, then.”

—–

Later:

“I’d pretty much say it’s exactly your color,” bee person Hucka Doobie declared to her old friend Karoz at this Treasure Hill representing the heart of the Orient, its apex. Its climax if you will. Hucka Doobie looked around again. “Both Morgan and Julia sides.”

“Then this must be about me. And also Baker Blinker,” spoke the wise cyan guy. “Okay, we’ll return. Obviously mum’s the word about our meeting here.”

Hucka Doobie made a zipping motion over her slightly pollen covered lips.

Sunklands Admin Team interview Baker B. re Collagesity 01

SAT:

Hi Baker B. Welcome to the interview.

Baker B.:

Thank you. And: thank you.

SAT:

We are you after all.

Baker B.:

Right. State your first question worker (smile).

SAT:

How did all this Collagesity stuff start? Second Lyfe… Collagesity. Don’t go into details. Just the general, just the mundane.

Baker B.:

2008 for Second Life, er, Second Lyfe. 2010 for the first virtual town, which was called Pietmond. Collagesity evolved from Pietmond — started 2014. Is that general enough?

SAT:

Thank you. Your first avatar was a woman. Your second avatar was a man. Yet both are named Baker. Please explain if you can — again succinctly.

Baker B.:

I actually can’t remember why I chose a woman as my first avatar. My RL wife decided to be a man (inworld), so I guess that had a role. She was what you could call a very prudish looking woman (with long white dress and un-accentuated features). At the same time, my RL wife’s avatar looked much like David Bowie.

SAT:

The woman’s name was Baker Blinker, the man’s Baker Bloch. Just clarifying here. I understand that Baker Bloch gradually took over responsibilities from Baker Blinker and became your chief or main avatar. How and when did this take place?

Baker B.:

Oh, probably after our move to mainland and I purchased my first land from the Lindens directly. The Lindens own and run the Second Lyfe world. Or, I should say, Second Life there, since I’m talking about them now. And Baker Blinker — perhaps hard to believe — was getting a bit of griefing (as a woman) on mainland that she didn’t have in the less crowded Estate (non Linden owned land of the game). So when Baker Bloch, not Baker Blinker, bought the first mainland land for our “family” (of avatars), in Rubi and very near where I still “live” virtually — Collagesity that is — then that was really the beginning of the end for Baker Blinker as the main avatar. She’s made a big revival in the Collagesity novels more recently. She even got married (!).

SAT:

Karoz Blogger, yes. Describe how they met and then the progression from there to marriage and beyond. I understand they had some rocky patches to work through. Perhaps these are still going on?

Baker B.:

Yes, I don’t think I’m giving away much of a plot when I — we — say the two characters got married rather early in the Collagesity novels as they stand so far. It was a big event, along with them getting together — falling for each other — in the first place. The latter event took place in the exact center of the first Collagesity novel, which we’ll, for simplicity’s sake, call Collagesity Novel 01, although the actual title is “Collagesity 2015-2016 Winter”.

SAT:

Describe how this took place.

Baker B.:

Karoz just looked around and realized one day that he was attracted to Baker Blinker, where before she was just an acquaintance — one of the family, if you will. But this went beyond family. Baker Bloch and Baker Blinker, for instance, never had this kind of attraction to each other, although at least Baker Blinker might have wanted it at one point. Instead they are more brother and sister — closer than brother and sister, since they have a common user. They can finish each other’s thoughts because they are the same; that kind of closeness. Closer than married couples who are close in many ways.

SAT:

Cool. How about Hucka Doobie? I know he is the guiding spirit of the blog, and one that Baker B. — you — relied on a lot for sage advise, at least before the Collagesity novels started kicking in. Can you describe your relationship to him, and what changed about the character during the course of the novels?

Baker B.:

Hucka D. has a definite backstory. He was formerly Charles Nelson Blinkerton, a New Mexico artist from New York who was always one beat behind the current artistic trends. So when Pop Art was around, Blinkerton was still a surrealist and abstract expressionist. When Pop Art yielded to more postmodern concerns, Blinkerton trailed again and took up practicing the basically obsolete form just mentioned. He died on (or near) the top of Burro Mtn. in New Mexico of a heart attack in 2008 at the age of 98, I believe. His soul went into the already prepared body of Hucka Doobie in Our Second Lyfe, then. But the melding created a fusion of personalities, since Hucka Doobie was already established a bit in this world. It wasn’t just Blinkerton taking over a body.

SAT:

Hucka Doobie is the 3rd avatar you, the user, created, and the first beyond The Bakers male and female.

Baker B.:

Yes. And I should add that in the Collagesity novels it is revealed that Hucka Doobie is a woman and not a man, or transformed into a woman from a man at the least. She is continuing to morph away from her purely bee (shaped) start, and currently looks much like David Bowie’s widow Iman, a strong black woman in the modelling industry. Kind of strange… and she seems more trapped in Second Lyfe than ever through this more human form and unable to go back to spirit form, let’s say.

SAT:

Interesting. Let’s see, now we have Wilsonia, the 4th avatar. I’m just reviewing the chapters of “Where are We on That?…” in order.

Baker B.:

Right. Wilsonia was never developed, really, although she has a point of origin: Otherland (Estate land again). But in the novels she becomes Wheeler Wilson — or, sometimes, Wilson Wheeler — certainly a very important character there.

SAT:

How did this (development) come about?

Baker B.:

She absorbed, I guess, the feminine half of the spectrum — from Baker Blinker at the end (during Collagesity Novel 02). Baker Bloch is now the primary male avatar and Wheeler Wilson the female one. So it is appropriate earlier this year that Baker Blinker sells her chunk of Collagesity to Wheeler Wilson. But Wheeler Wilson is multiple avatars now, as is Baker Bloch. Baker Blinker, Karoz Blogger, Hucka Doobie and the rest: not so much. Like I said, Baker Bloch and Wheeler Wilson are the great male-female duality now. Bracket Jupiter is also around.

SAT:

Topic for another night. Good night.
